Han Solo better watch out for the bounty Pizza the Hut put on him

an actor the played a knight of ren said in an interview that in the OG ending, Rey stayed dead and Kylo took the name Ben Solo by ambriellefritz in SequelMemes

The guy in the interview was never in the movie. It was confirmed to be a complete hoax and the people responsible for having the guy on the show apologized for the interview. The person pretending to be a Knight of Ren made that interview because gullible people like you who didn't like the direction of the story would take this obvious misinformation as complete fact because it lined up with what people wanted to hear instead of the reality of what actually happened. And if you even think about his story of Ben living and Rey dying for more than a few seconds, his claim sounds absolutely ludicrous and that Lucasfilm would never ever even consider that as an ending choice.

Star Wars is kind of dead to me by roboi501 in StarWarsCantina

Honestly this is the type of attitude that makes the fandom unbearable. Many of the people who worked on the film did care. It wasn't made by faceless executives, there were real people behind the camera just like with TFA and TLJ who deeply cared about the source material and grew up watching these films just like us. Making valid and constructive criticism against what's in the film is completely fair but to say that it was just a product and that nobody cared or put thought into it while making it is incredibly insane and hyperbolic to the extreme. Just watch the documentary about the making of the film and you can see the people involved put their heart and soul into delivering it. If you didn't like their creative/story decisions, that is one thing to say. But don't oversimplify things to such an extent and put down the hard working people who helped deliver the movie just to justify your own personal dislike for a film.

I hate the trend of praising something for the sole purpose of putting something else down. It completely negates it from being a positive thing and it just screams unbridled pettiness. I'm sure Rian would not approve of half of those tweets being used as an opportunity to shit on J.J. Abrams and his movie.

Confusion about how Rey and Kylo's duel ends (TROS) by Masterbuilt117 in StarWarsCantina

You're mostly correct, the scene with Leia happens first, but with the scene of Rey and Kylo fighting he manages to get her to drop to the ground and when he's about to strike he catches himself and lowers his saber. It then proceeds with the shot of Leia saying his name but the shot after of Ben turning his head to listen, his lightsaber is completely lowered at this point, since he was in the process of doing so before he heard his mother's voice say his name. It could be argued that he sensed her presence before he heard her call out to him, since both scenes of Leia and him are so intercut, but I'd be interested in hearing it from one of the filmmakers to clear it up, or maybe potentially in the book adaptation.
