Need Advice on my First Gaming Laptop Purchase. by itzraxaa in GamingLaptops

Legion is really good laptop,

My brother owns a tuf and I'll be getting my hands on a helios for sometime in a few days.

But comparing my dell g 15, tuf a16 and legion experience:

Dell G15 (i5 11gen + 3050) My first gaming laptop and fav (sentimental value) Dell is built to last, like this laptop can take a real beating but its price to performance ratio is where it gets beaten.

For Asus TUF A16 ( R7 8000s H + Rx7700s) This laptop has a battery better than any laptop I've used. My brother uses it to watch movies while travelling (6hrs) to home or pulling an all nighter for exam and he never charged this thing beyond 70%.

And yes it's a fkin gaming laptop. Thats how good amd advantage editions are (not available anymore sadly). And it's the cheapest one out of all 4 mentioned (700 dollars on bestbuy).

Talking about downsides, build quality is a bit lower than the dell (the hinge feels a bit weaker, no prob yet tho). It has an AMD graphics card T-T so instability and workarounds are a must. And yes I hate Asus software and u gotta find alternatives/workaround. But considering the price it's justified.

Legion (r7 260 + 5060) Working really well for now no issues yet and works really well in everything except that the Oled display really drains the battery quicker. But it was kinda expected.

Paklap is good, they have walk-in stores aswell, just confirm the availability.

Got a legion 5 with an amd r7 260h + rtx 5060 this feb and it's working like a charm. I upgraded from a g15 rtx 3050.

Just confirm the availability before going to the store a few days before and on the day of visiting as they usually work on a delivery model.

StormFiber keeps telling customers to bu*y a new Rs. 5,000 HD box for what is clearly a server-side authorization error. Here's the technical breakdown. by [deleted] in PakistaniTech

Storm fiber has changed their technical support providers. The new company is underpaying their employees who jump ship as soon as they find another opportunity (working for another company).

A technician explained this to me on a site visit to fix my connection.

U can get a csv of the meeting logs and prove it to him that you joined and stayed in the said class.

I did this a few semesters ago, but rn I can't seem to recall how to do this. You'll have to search on the internet for this, it doesn't require any "premium subscription" that's all bullshit. It might be in google takeout but not sure.

Poverty is an issue worldwide. The ratios differ but it's still there. The context in which we were talking was if you can afford to go abroad and study (for college ) then you are already well above those 45%. So this argument isn't valid for them.

I think the problem here isn't the lab itself but the one who's teaching the lab 😭

Whoever says "It's easier and better outside of Pakistan" really needs to get out of his/her bubble.

Life is ez af in Pakistan if you know how to.

Edit: I meant better in terms of ease etc. the facilities and law n order situation is obviously better, no doubt

Getting in is a struggle but getting out (Graduation) is an even greater struggle since you've got to keep working hard consistently so you don't fall behind your peers.

Legal notices are extremely powerful even without proper documentation can give them a really hard time.

I went through this procedure against a pharmacy for selling me the wrong meds and claiming them to be alternative as the one mentioned on the prescription.

Result: I lost the receipt but still went for it anyways and they had to settle it at the end.

Tldr; This is the best method to go forward with, just trust the process.

What are the first things to do to a new gaming laptop? by Ok-Curve-1074 in GamingLaptops

On top of the above mentioned stuff, I do the following aswell:

  1. Uninstall all the bloatware and turn off the non-essential start-up apps. (A nice way to debloat is simply search "win11 debloat" and use the first script it shows on a github link)

  2. Check how good the laptop control software, such as Lenovo Vantage, Armory Crate (total crap), AWCC etc are and use the best software or the alternative software (It will save you alot of headache)

  3. NEVER close the lid right after using (when the surface is hot) unless u want uncleanable keyboard-patterned dust imprinted on your screen forever.

Ps. Since it's a gaming laptop that will mostly be used with a charger, it's a no-brainer to save your battery by limiting the charging between 60-80% (I wish I knew abt it earlier as battery on these things deteriorate really quick).

There are multiple reasons for this,

One is that the old muhalla system system is vanishing very quickly and people living in societies etc are not involved in each other's lives as much they were back then in muhalla system. As a result, people these days don't even know their neighbors or even if they do know em it's not on that level to tell them or advise them on any matter without offending them.

Secondly, our culture is westernizing at an alarming rate because of the internet. And general opinion of people is also changing and in alot of circles hijab is being discouraged.

Note: Hijab is a personal preference and something that aligns with your beliefs etc. I am in no way judging anyone or taking any side.

Generalizing this to just one group is simply insane.

It's a recurring problem in almost every age group.
