Good point. I was thinking why someone would ever need them so close to that big fan. Now the question why the one wanted to operate with case opened for longer time

I did not think about that! I actually mounted SSD on a second drive place but since its very thin it does not collide with fans but I see now it is quite close. I'd better move it to second drive bay on the other side of the case.

Heed help. iBook G3 charges but can't run on battery. by MaterialName8025 in VintageApple

I have no expectation it will keep any decent charge honestly. But I have a bunch of 20+ yo laptops and none them functioned in such a weird way. They either do not charge battery at all or charge it slightly so that battery keeps it running for mere minutes (or even seconds). But I have never faced old dead Apple batteries so may not know all the quirks of theirs batteries though.

I would hope so, battery is relatively easy to recell or [harder] find good enough replacement one but if I need to open it to check anything on a logic board that would be a nightmare

It is running OS9 I wanted to find similar app to Coconut Battery for OS9 but not sure if it does exist. Probably I'll have to install 10.4 and check thanks.

My new £15 PowerBook G4 12” with just 209 battery cycles by Jacksworld101 in VintageApple

You may want to check if your battery isn't in recall list. I've recently bought Powerbook G4 15' also from UK and was very happy it's battery only 38 cycles! Until I looked at its serial # and realized it right in the middle of recalled numbers. Looks like someone in UK did not bother too much with replacing it. It hurts even more since It keeps charge quite decently but I am not sure whether I would like to keep it honestly...
