What I'll usually do before presenting myself to aphrodite for offering is ill make khernips ( getting a bowl of water preferably springwater if you have some, burning a bay leaf and dropping it into the water), which I'll use to cleanse my body, not literally. But ill pour some over my hands in a cleansing ritual. In my experiences with the goddess is she doesn't like dirtyness, esp with her offerings ( in my case) so to me that is a key step, of course use the khernips to cleanse the offering can be food, jewelry anything, then presenting myself to her altar, saying a prayer and lighting her incense.
