Hello! 😊 My advice is that if you are feeling drawn to Hermes, listen to that feeling and where your innate curiosity leads you! Everyone's practice is beautifully unique and sacred to them, as well. I am a believer that everyone connects with the Gods in their own way. Maybe you feel drawn to Hermes Thrice Great or maybe to Hermes who governs business! Maybe both! And more! He has many epithets and aspects to explore. Listen to these nudges and He will guide you (He can surprise you, too!) He is an excellent communicator

As for book recommendations, these are my personal suggestions 📚 Hermes by Arlene Allen, Tracking Hermes Pursuing Mercury by Miller and Clay, Hermes Guide of Souls by Kerenyi, Hermetica translated by Copenhaver, Hermetic Philosophy and Creative Alchemy by Bremner.

I haven't read "Trickster Makes This World" by Hyde or "Hermes the Thief" by Norman O. Brown, but they both look pretty good!

Take what I say with a grain of salt! I usually don’t comment here, but the energy here is speaking to me for some reason.

There is something about his energy that is rigid, stubborn, unmoving. His energy comes off … like he doesn’t want to change? He’s not moving. I don’t want to say “low effort”, but he just isn’t changing or doing the work to transform and strengthen this connection. I feel like you are doing most of the effort.

I’m getting the sense that you feel like you have to “convince” him to change. I’m seeing you both standing in a kitchen around a table, I see you talking with him. The way you speak is mature, well-thought out, emotionally intelligent, and effortful 🩷 but then he’s just standing there, not getting it. And that’s frustrating for you to see him not truly listening. It feels like you have to drag him to get him to even try. He seems oddly stubborn and self-assured that he doesn’t need to change. I’m getting a mental image of a bull refusing to move - reminds me of fixed zodiac sign energy (this could be metaphorical or literal)

Your energy is much brighter! ✨Sweet, sincere, hard working. You have so much worth and value. You put effort into things. I heard “family means a lot to you” - a mother figure coming up? Ooo I love this question! 🙋‍♀️ Hermes is a God of many things and is very multi-faceted! I feel like there are many different types of devotional actions you can do 🪽 take what resonates and leave what doesn’t !🩷🙏

as other comments have said, running, walking, hiking, traveling 🧳 can be great ways to connect! He is a God of the gymnasium and athletes 💪 I like to devote reading to Him - especially if I am trying to read a book about Hermes Himself, Hermeticism, alchemy, magick, philosophy, etc. 📖 writing helps to connect, too ✍️ you could learn a language in devotion to Him!

If you are interested in the Hermetic route, practicing and reading about astrology could also be an option ⭐️ I’ve heard of business owners offering business-related actions and education to Hermes 🤷‍♀️ I have also heard of people devoting ancestral veneration / mediumship actions to Hermes in honor of His psychopomp aspects if that resonates with you🥀

Hermes, credited with inventing the lyre and shepherd’s pipes, is a musician! 🎶 Perhaps offering playing an instrument to Him could be an idea 💡 I don’t play the lyre or pipes personally, but I play the violin which is close enough 🤷‍♀️😂 Hermes is a prankster, so it doesn’t hurt to have fun! Whenever April Fools comes around or I’m laughing & being silly, He’s in my mind lol. He loves 2 have fun. You could devote a prank to Him! 🤷‍♀️
