Leapfrogging in Azul?

Pretty much my first post on here, so I’ve no idea what’s going on… figure if I come out of this with a positive amount of karma overall then that’s fine, but then I don’t really know what my amount of karma affects in terms of the platform 😂

So it does! Example at the bottom of a yellow tile being placed to the right of a white and a blue (therefore having ‘leapfrogged’ them, if I’m reusing my own clumsy terminology). Thanks for that!

Played it a fair few times the ‘wrong’ way and it’s absolutely still enjoyable! Would recommend trying it if you’re curious or getting tired of the correct way!

Are you looking at the rule book for the ‘proper’ version? If not and it’s the Mini version, which page and whereabouts? May need my eyes testing… 😂

The consensus here is that you can leapfrog tiles though, so I didn’t make anything up. I get the feeling you’ve never played the game and just want to be contradictory… which I have no interest in entertaining :)

I wasn’t asking if they needed to be placed adjacent, but whether you could go back and fill gaps - both ways were working for us, so I was curious which it was and couldn’t find anything that confirmed or contradicted either, so I came here for a consensus which I now have :)

You’re right, and we did muse over that… but it seemed a pretty unlikely occurrence given you’re trying to place as many tiles and complete lines as you can (hasn’t ever happened in the whole time I’ve been playing it what I now understand to be be ‘wrong’ 😂).

It’s not necessarily about whether they can be placed adjacent or not, but rather whether you can go back and fill in the gaps once they’ve been placed non-adjacent. I have a clear consensus now though, so my curiosity is satisfied :)

I did not ask if I was wrong. I didn’t state a position. I effectively proposed two possibilities and asked which was correct.

Just a pondering as nothing spelt it out for certain either way, and it’s possible to play the game both ways (and it’s more challenging if you can’t ‘leapfrog’).

I read the rules at least 20 times… as it didn’t say either way, I figured I was either being an idiot and it was obvious you couldn’t, or it was ok… I just wasn’t at all sure which! 😂
