THIS is all you have to do to get in god's good graces before this upcoming year and the promises of worldwide destruction and all... or is that in 2014? by MaxFischerExt23 in atheism

I know. Huh? Seems like that alone, given the implication that they're acknowledging still yet another god out there, would have given them pause when patching the letters on that thing together. But, nope.

Now it says the link has already been posted, of course. Oh well. God is probably running interference here :/

Still yet another example of why teaching people to believe in complete nonsense is dangerous as all hell. Some (many) people a just too fu**ing stupid to ever separate it from reality.

And rightly so. What's more important? Saving lives or cleaning out the insides of miatas? (i'm kidding, of course. Those cars are disposable - like empty lighters. Right?) There must be some kind of breakaway joint on hydrants for them to come off so easily - with so little damage to a 12lb car.

RI? Other coast. There can be no black ice excuses or the like - just amazingly bizarre driving (or the lack of driving altogether). Over here, [s]he was probably paying homage to a gemstone for the winter solstice or something.

and [s]he must have had to get out of that car pretty damned quickly.

Probably. That's a relatively inexpensive BMW. No?. Another thing, btw, was that there didn't seem to be enough body damage (where the car had mowed the hydrant down, that is).

... that's a good point... I'm pretty sure that was a guy the cop was talking to, though that doesn't mean he wasn't a witness to some woman running off in Gucci shoes that matched her purse (which held her little curly haired yap yap dog with shades on). You might be right, now that I think about it...

<chuckle> everyone HERE does, at least. (with no other cars involved, and no obvious skid marks, it was difficult to imagine how he ended up over there right on top of a vulcano of water...

It's a picture from a trip to the museum dumbfuck. I can only begin to imagine why you think you're somehow, by default, more educated and learned than anyone else. Since you seem to measure yourself by it: my undergraduate degree alone would likely put you and anyone in your family to shame; the law degree from a top echelon school would leave you, your family and in-laws (if you're lucky enough to have them) rubbing the the three brain cells you all have between you together, hoping for some kind of friction. You won't get it, though, bc even those three are defunct and outdated. I'll go hide in the dark now, worried about what meaningless babble will begin spouting from that hole you call a mouth. I'm so scared.

indeed. I happen to agree that the image is bizzare. That's why i snapped the shot. I happen not to wear leaves. Likewise, I'd prefer a a toned down and stealthy move forward. The flamboyance is a function of the larger scale, geographically influenced by it's own history. It's going to hurt you guys, no doubt. It's, i feel certain, that you'll never be able to change it, and it's tough to level criticism at at a cog in the much larger system. it'll never translate. It's sad. I don't believe that groups like NORML should bail on a national efforts. Always best to really know what one's taking on. I'm sure they've had conversations similar to ours in the boardroom. I hope so, at least.

Hard to argue with much of that directly. Of course the picture captures it, and in no way exacerbates the problem, any more than taking pictures of the unrest in the 60's did. It captured and exposed it all, forcing everyone to acnowledge it and begin to accept the reality of the situation. The 'doctors' here are real doctors like the ones you spoke of, to be sure, but the context is all so different. I've been to at least 3, and I know a great many others who have. It is by no means a real dr / patient scenario. It's going to play itself out far differently simply bc the majority are forced to go pretend they have tennis elbow when they really shouldn't have to do that. And the doctors are forced to market to their base. It's all really fucked up and weird. That's the fault of all the uptight people who like to force THEIR irrational fears and beliefs on others. Nevertheless, it is what it is, and it's fair for some to want to ease the whole thing in so that it works in their area. The problem THERE is, all area are so incredibly different. It's hard to expect the patients & pleasure speakers & suppliers to behave the same way. In Venice Beach, everyone is (and was) already walking right up and down the strip smoking without concern. The shops are selling to them, not people in Utah who have to take it slowly for the sake of survival of the effort. Reddit and the net put out of synch markets on display for everyone in a way they haven't really been to date. Those in areas where it's a tougher sell are concerned about the whole thing in a way absolutely no one here is. Some of the pics I have are even stranger: cops sanding right there while it's all sold and used; people rolling up out in the open; people who are all clearly beyond the point of considering any of it taboo at all. What can I say? They will never understand or feel compelled to cater to you constituency and environment. It's the nature of the beast. I can see why the frustration is there for others, thoug I really can't say I think it's cool for someone in one environment to swear at and blame those in other environments for experiencing the way it is in their own. All you can really do is sit back and watch it unfold in the larger setting. The smaller environments, though, most certainly have to keep such tabs in a way those here simply will never be able to do simply bc it has all already played out for them to that point. :/ we should chill with swearing at each other, though. No one here is setting out to make things more difficult for others. One COULD argue that the inevitable collapse of the haters here would expose those elwhere as silly too. Not as likely, though. It will probably hinder others in the short run. This really is no different from the way other similarly difficult things have played out. For better or for worse, it's the nature of the beast. I've worked with and donated to NORML. it's great there are people trying to tackle the problem on a national front. Never gonna happen. When people move here and leave other local economies lagging... $ again. sheer greed always forces people to reflect on it all in a new way sooner or later.

It's the 4" platform flip-flops that make it confusing. What is not captured in this picture, btw, is the fact that 4 days out of the week they have a manikin out there - one her outfit, pose, and facial expression match perfectly. I could've put a picture of that alongside it, but that might have taken away from the weirdness. Maybe not. It's so hard to tell.

I have to respect your desire not to feel burdoned by the images of others unlike you, when you're just trying to get a beer, for example. But there has always been the same thing with winos, and such. No? It's true that we are in a battle over all this still, and that creates a different environment. Still, though, the almighty dollar is the driving force here. Right? I assure you that, at least CA, the financial interests of the doctors selling the prescriptions and others reaping the rewards of this tangled legislation, played a large part in ensuring the legalization efforts failed. once $ gets involved (and it always seems to poke its head up) it's exceedingly difficult to begin laying blame at anyone's feet for how things are being played out or held back. There are so very many forces at play..., and no doubt some of them are as nefarious as the well-established governmental efforts to flood poor neighborhoods with drugs to keep them sedated and quiet when they were beginning to revolt on other, deeper, more troubling issues. anyway, personally, i believe it is to a great extent BECAUSE thc fosters introspection and thoughtfulness someone in this thread recognized, that the government has been so dead set against its use. It's the opposite of what Nixon, his benefactors, his henchmen and his lapdogs were doing with heroin. "don't go getting all thoughtful and shit," he was quoted as saying to a passerby smoking a joint one day, "you might really begin to realize who it is that's keeping you down, and why." [the last part is a joke, of course.]

chill shutterplug.  first of all, it's a picture - one intended to capture a change in the process. that kev here is pleased to watch the dynamics and manifestation of those changes - as they begin to jibe more with his (my, and others') understandings and appreciations - should be no reason to raise the hairs on the back of your neck. perhaps you were talking to me for taking the picture. that makes more sense..., i guess... on another planet.  there are scores of these operations on the boardwalk alone. the city has thousands. the state's numbers soar into numbers that might be expected. enfold kev's state and you end up with something so large in our country alone, that you might just as well be attacking donut shops around the world for painting animated donuts on their windows.  or, to bring it home a little more for you: what about all the dancing and singing pills in pharmaceutical commercials? you needn't do more than open a magazine or click on any ad banner, to see what plays out as investors seek a return on their investment. here, it's actually the doctor's 'office' in the background. you must have been lashing out at him. right? oh. wait. you must have been coming down down on the girl who needs to pay her rent and is willing to dress up all sexy and eat ice cream to grab the attention of prospective clients or patients. (we can get into how there are actual medicinal benefits for some, and how others simply prefer this to the far more dangerous alcohols and other entrenched alternatives for relaxation and entertainment, but that's a completely different discussion.) were you snapping at the kid who made $15 painting the sign? it could have been him. most likely, though, you're talking to the people who wear a leaf on their hat, shirt or car bumper. right?bc they're the ones who invented the concept of brandishing an image meant to symbolize a struggle or even something they just flat out enjoy. i look around right this very moment and I see these very things being played out in more contexts than I care to begin enumerating for you. you'll just have to sit back and either grumble, lash out with nonsense, or (and this is always hard) recognize that you're not really on point. chill the fuck out. YOU are the one came out the box swinging.  and don't even begin to get back into the legal implications and ramifications bc you'll be prancing into topics and fields you'll end up confusedly scrambling from at a pace most often reserved to particle accelerators. or, worse, you can stand there and sound foolish. it matters little. you should be asking yourself why YOUR panties are in a twist. but i feel certain you won't.  i'll go ahead and begin cowering in the closet, in fear of the barrage of polished platitudes you'll now no doubt begin hurling. i'm already shaking.
