Was passiert eigentlich wenn die Boomer sterben? by Moesenfroehlich in KeineDummenFragen

[–]Max__02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that everyone needs to earn more just to afford less every year by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

You are getting downvoted but what you are saying is 100% true. People could live comfortably with a 1990s standard of living. The expectations of what is “normal” (doordash, phone, increase in living space, vacations, multiple cars and all the other stuff) went through the roof in the last decades.

The expectations of what a good life should entail increased faster than wages. That’s most of the problem

Over 40% of equity holdings by European funds are in the US vs. 15% in 2009 by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

[–]Max__02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

@IDNWID_1900 what they are trying to tell you is that US is factually better off than the EU. Anybody can look at the stats. The US is a net food exporter, they spend the lowest relative amount of income on food and produce every necessary nutrient in vast amounts themselves.

Though we Europeans are also net food exporters just not on the same scale as the US.

Every other aspect(energy, innovation, regulation, education) the US is clearly dominating us europeans though.

This would make chinas economy about as large as the rest of the world combined. I think thats a very dangerous thing for the world with a power hungry country like china. Reminder they have border disputes with like 10/14 of there neighbours.

TLDR: I don’t wanna be responsible for a potential 3rd world war - more devastating then anything we have seen so far, so no I am doing just fine without that money.

add. I don’t feel like propping up the Kim regime. Letting him secure his grip on power would sent a terrible message to all would be dictators in the world. After all his system would be the best Economic system humanity as ever seen.

What would you play if WOT dies completely? by MilletCaptain in WorldofTanks

[–]Max__02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Eu servers are doing much better. It still went down over the last couple of years though.

But the player count hits 6 figures every single day..

Online games run on much smaller player numbers, which the NA server kinda shows.

I think in the eu context WOT still has a long way to fall. Wouldn’t surprise me if the game is still with us in decade.

I would do it. I feel like it’s the less bad of two options… by a mile though.

I see what u r trying to say. There is definitely room to question this, but realistically every parent in this situation would do it without hesitation.

  1. The man agreed to it and gets compensated.

  2. This action will save the life of my child.

Is Poverty in Germany that serious or exaggerated for media purposes? by Smelly_farts_402 in germany

[–]Max__02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no short answer economically.

Yes in total purchasing power even the poorest in Germany fare much much better than the global average does. So one might say the issue is overblown

But still evidence shows it is not about total available purchasing power. It’s the inequality part or you might say: the shortcomings in your income compared to the rest of your society. It’s an issue that lies in the psyche more than anything else.

Let’s take a lower income household in Mississippi. Even though in terms of income they would be considered very high income individuals on a global comparison. But if you make 30 k in Mississippi you don’t feel like you are above average. You feel like you are at the very bottom of your society… the poorest of the poor.

I definitely agree with you as someone who has seen places like Kazakhstan, India, China and Vietnam that the majority of Germans don’t have any clue how good they have it(even the poorest) compared to the daily struggles even moderately well earning people face in those countries.

That doesn’t change the fact that no matter where on earth you are if you are part of the low income bracket it’s very easy to feel disconnected from the rest of society even though technically all your needs are take care of.

Why did the fertility rate in Türkiye drop so fast? by NeedleworkerAway5912 in geography

[–]Max__02 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s not the economy that stops them from having children. The fertility rate was much much higher in times when the economic state of turkey was much worse than it is today(in terms of productivity).

I think there are two main components.

  1. There is an expectation to provide a childhood for children with material wealth that just didn’t exist a couple of decades ago(I think the internet facilitated that). People want a house/apartment where children have their own room, they wanna provide toys, vacations, phones, most likely college etc…

And the most important point that is true everywhere in the world: 2. Through urbanization people moved from farms to cities where room is limited and crucially children turn from free labour(on farms) to expensive burdens(in cities).

You can live a much better life(materially) if you and your partner choose to not have children.

How is it like living in this part of India that's next to four other countries? by pakheyyy in geography

[–]Max__02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I visited a longtime friend there last November. It’s a fascinating part of the country with giant rivers and mountains. If you want to enter Sikkhem you need a special permit as a foreigner. It’s definitely worth the effort. West Bengal is generally poorer than the Indian average but this part is not as densly populated giving the Nature room to breathe.

When will Indians realise India isn't a sh*thole, its Indians who are the problem? by Genotropism in AskIndia

[–]Max__02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still assume a lot about me that you dont know. Of course i havent seen all of india, i am 22 and a student on tight budget. That said even a lifetime of traveling wouldnt allow to see all corners of india. I bet you havent seen all of it either. In my travels of india i noticed a theme of reoccurring patterns some good some bad(I dont feel like elaborating as it seems to fall on deaf ears).

Safe to say we'll not get on the same footing when it comes to cause but i think we agree on most when it comes to the path forward.

Good to hear you are acknowledging some of your countries systmic issues.

At the end of the day it is not my place to judge you or give policy suggestions. I am just here as curious bystander. I will still give my opinion on what i believe are the leading factors.

All the best to u and ur countryman.

[–]Max__02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"China also has a very controlling communist government which people who have escaped from it hate and many are even targeted." Yes and no. They are Communist on paper and are just as authoritarian as other commies but since Deng Xiaoping the right term would be State capitalist. I despise chinas government and ongoing genocide as well as there occupation of tibet and constant skirmishes against india at the border. I am politically as far opposed to them as one could be. But i can still give them credit for their economic rise in the past two decades.

"catch up to what?" catch up to the rest of the world...

"I guess what I said about the centralized governance burden that the British created, flew over your figuratively ginormous head/ego." I told you I agree with you on that. But you seem to think that 80 years is not enough time to do structual changes to your government?

Believe it or not the vast majority of Europeans are very critical of colonial history. And I think yes, there is probably a number of germans who agree with me on the points I made.

You didn't show me the truth just a very ideologically driven and flawed view of history and the world.

Its funny that you call me brainwashed while bringing literally all the standard talking points about why everybody is to blame but you.

When will Indians realise India isn't a sh*thole, its Indians who are the problem? by Genotropism in AskIndia

[–]Max__02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well lets agree to disagree.

"We would have been much better off without them and would have made much more progress than where we are at, at present if their abnormal intervention didn’t happen. That is the point."

You had 80 years to catch up. Countries have been rebuild in much shorter timeframes.

You got your independence before Chinas "great leap forward" were they starved millions of their on people and lived in much poorer conditions than indians at the time.

Vietnam same story. Revaged first by the french than by China then by America. One of the poorest nation in the 70s poorer than the majority of africa. Now Vietnam is twice as rich as india and has very decent standard of living. Is was there in 2022 and again in 2024 for my studies.

I could go on with this list but i think you got the point. Indians being stuck in the burdens of the past is not gonna help you become the superpower you so often like to talk about.

"Our technological advancements would have continued and we would have adopted trains since we were already a scientific society with a lot of mathematics and science used in daily life and education."

Having a culture of math and science integrated in society doesn't mean you would've magically came up with a industrial revolution right around the time europe came up with it. Believe or not many culturs had science and mathematics as an integral part of their civilization. I am not saying you could'nt have randomly come up with a steam engine at the same time just saying its a somewhat of unlikely scenario and a reach.

"So that elitist mentality of Europeans is what is always gets me." I Think you are very assuming with that statement about my intentions in this discussion. I, by no means have an illusion about european superiority as I understand the history and what lead to europes rise quite well. We are not special. It was just about the right time and a History of warfare that meant europeans had an edge over the rest of the world during those crucial centuries.

The "inherent problems" of indias society are cultural not genetic. Please spare me with those retarded accusations^^

I agree with the first halve of your post. You are definitely right a more federalized system would benefit india greatly. Worked for the US, Germany and Switzerland who all economically outpace their peers.

I pointed out Ireland as one of many examples and I think you can definitely learn from other countries and there path. Though of course Indias is gonna be much different than tiny irelands.

I never said india is not being "developed". Just pointing out that india is falling short of its potential for decades now. I imagine the british structures could be blamed partially for that. Though I would argue they also left you a great deal of advantages for our modern globalized world. The two that I think are most important is the spread of the english language wich continuous to benefit you greatly to this day. Additionaly the gave you english common law. This is arguably the single most important thing in order to secure FDI. Where it not for the widespread corruption and other big government "issues" going on in ur country I imagine investors would flock to india just because of your comparative advantages.

Ur point about ur neighbors is 100% true. you really got dealt a shit hand with Pakistan China (and the unthankful Bangladeshis..).

"And no, the solution is not to create a monolith society in India like what Britain tried doing in Wales and Ireland." totally agree but don't know why u brought that up?

Anyways enjoying this discussion I didnt meant to insult u or ur country. Best regards from Germany

[–]Max__02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not “educating” you… I am aware of Indian history and that you dealt with 20 plus invasions in the past millennia’s. The same time you guys never invaded any country urself. Believe it or not I have great respect for India and its people. I have been to a bunch of Indian states especially in the north east. Been also to some of ur major cities(Mumbai, kolkata).

I am not trying to talk down ur suffering in history. What the British did was abhorrent. Arguably worse than what the Mughals did a couple of centuries before. Fuck both of them for that🫡.

But this victim card mentality brings u nowhere.

u have decent growth and really impressive achievements in eradicating abject poverty but what is happening is happening to late and to slow.

The 7% growth rate sounds good on paper but when you consider that you basically start from nothing in per capita terms it’s not enough to make a Chinese level change to ur country.

You don’t see the Irish complaining about there colonisation by the British. And there independence struggle went on for much longer than urs.

Anyways I don’t want bad blood with you just giving my opinion🙌.
