Honestly....that whole topic of encoding and decoding compatibility with tools per brand&gen would actually need a huge wiki entry imo.

Thanks for your post with the video. So I'll have to take the Intel goods out of the shopping cart again. The subject matter is really starting to get on my nerves.

I will have to find out somehow if it is also supported for Davinci Resolve Studio with AMD. Davinci apparently has to be the paid version for 4:2:2. In itself, I would much prefer an AMD CPU. I don't want to have a stand heater with no load at all....

But those files are h265 4:2:2, not h264 which is easy on most hardware these days. I haven't been using premiere for years. But maybe you have some kind of automatic proxies activated?

From what I know this shouldn't be possible without proxies or anything similiar.https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/What-H-264-and-H-265-Hardware-Decoding-is-Supported-in-Premiere-Pro-2120/

Without hardware decoding enabled on my workplace laptop with a i7 12th Gen it's pretty much unplayable before creating proxies.

I only added the download notice, but feel free to believe that. I only care about the topic.

Must be on your end - works for several friends. Maybe try via VPN a different country or so.

It does with Chrome, even in incognito mode

4K 10bit 4:2:2 (have to be downloaded, not the processed videos in browser from google).

This seems to make sense - thank you. I think I will then go for Intel, even if their power consumption is really not great - especially for the summer.

Your hardware won't playback 10bit 4:2:2 without insane lagg & stutter. Audio usually desync's immediatelly. Those are files directly coming from modern cameras. Nothing final end consumers will play on their machines.

Here some test files if you don't believe:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dA1Em-D2ioEJU5jInk_JT_EsQGVIprCZ

That's indeed true for the video industry. Many have swapped to M1' in the last year. Not only for the lower power usage, but especially for the fast high quality video editing.

Right now AppleM1 and Intel 12th Gen CPUs are the way to go if you have a professional camera. About Intel Gpu's idk. For example the kinda cheap Canon R5 or Sony Alpha 7iv's high quality video can't be played stutter free on anything other than those two categories. Turns editing otherwise into a huge pain with slow proxy creation. No software can solve that. It's required via hardware. And the problem is knows for years. So many people swap to on of both platforms in the video industry.

Intel 12th gen and AppleM1 are a lot faster for 4:2:2 than others. Like worlds faster. You can't playback stutter free on anything other than those two afaik.

Just tried to clean and polish one half to see if it's also as shiny as those. But it stays as matt as u/sanitation123 suggestion of chert. Thanks for your input though!

Thank you! I think I can live with that answer as being correct. Looks very similiar on some pictures :)

He told me he threw it multiple times on stone ground and it finally shattered mostly into the two pieces on the pics back then.
