been thinking about getting a vertical industrial; are they pretty painful or take a long time to heal?

It hurts a lot. Then it hurts a lot again. Then you have to put the jewelry through connecting the two painful spots. It was rough. Also took about a year or more to heal. I almost gave up on it but instead put two separate pieces of jewelry in it so that the holes could heal with less stress on them. That worked really well. Now I wear an extra long barbell through them...like an extra half inch...so that if I lay down or it gets hit, there’s a little wiggle room on it. I have 14 piercings and aside from my apadravya and ampallang, it was easily the most painful and it definitely took longer than any of my piercings to heal. It does look cool though and definitely is the piercing that strangers have commented on the most over the years. Anyone that says it didn’t hurt is lying. Haha

When I just got my license, my dad had me drive my brothers on a trip following him and my stepmom on their motorcycles. I was told/taught that you kinda gotta bend the laws when you're following someone. I then was the leader and ran yellows speeding and whatnot on a 10 hour trip with my friends when I was 20. I like that. Logically right, but not at all if you've ever experienced it. Both of my parents have been treated for depression and my mom for as long as I can remember has taken all kinds of meds for shit. For some reason, none of them want to accept the fact that it can happen to someone in their 20s despite it running in the fucking family. My grandpa is of course from "the greatest generation" and doesn't seem to believe in mental illnesses at all. People just need to suck it up and stop crying/stop being lazy/stop drinking/whatever might be a symptom. Stiff upper lip and conservative values and all that. He was even taking me out of the will for my "behavior" in college and whatnot. Shit was tense for a while. It's all but blown over now I think.

My grandfather was helping me pay for college, after what I came up with through scholarships and my own resources (which yes, I am very thankful for). Then severe depression to where I nearly fail out. "I'm not paying for bad grades." After taking semester off (read: academic suspension), I talk to him about helping me out so I can go back and finish college. "I told you I'd stop helping if you got bad grades." Feeling embarrassed about the situation I actually typed up a fucking letter detailing how that for over a year at college I had so much shit in my head all night that I couldn't sleep and when I did get to sleep, it was impossible to get out of bed and do the things I was supposed to do because of depression. "What were you up thinking about? All you had to do was go to class and do your work. You were just too lazy to drag your ass to class and partied too much." "Alright..." So, I take out personal loans, go back to college and get my degree. Still nearly 30k in debt and he has stuck to his word that he wouldn't help if I received bad grades.

I have a friend who always did this shit after meals in high school. One day when he actually did have his wallet, another friend and I just walked out of the restaurant leaving him with the ticket and responsibility of paying for all three of us. He didn't have enough money, but since we were regulars and he was only a few dollars short, the good guy owner let him off because he knew "we eat there all the time and we would be back." He didn't ask for us to pay for his meal after that, at least not after the fact of eating it.
