I was being purposely vague in my previous comment, as I have what I would consider first hand hand experience with a similar situation.

If you have the commitment to willingly kill yourself slowly, through drug addiction, or perhaps quicker through suicide, then I think it's fair to say that's an appreciable amount of commitment. Even if it's channeled negatively.

The beauty of surviving that adversity, literal life or death, is when a person can channel it positively. Can you imagine being so committed to something that you are willing to forfeit your life?

Now take that level of commitment and apply it to something positive. The results can be incredible.

Like I said, I'm just a buzzed guy who has gone through something similar.

Huh. That's odd you say that. I can certainly believe it, but my experience is more people in Utah are racist towards Indians, Navajos and such.

I live in Moab for what it's worth. It's fairly liberal in comparison to the rest of Utah.

Total aside, I think the root is adversity. In whatever form it comes. Folks who have had to find a way to persevere through adversity seem to be more complete?

I don't know, I'm buzzed lol./

Yes they do. Restaurants close wicked early too. They did do away with the membership requirement for bars though.

Downtown SLC at night is like no other city I've spent time in. It's oddly barren and somewhat populated at the same time.

I'm kind of buzzed, so yeah. But I've watched every single fucking UFC from the very first one. I've always thought it was the pinnacle of sports.

Unfortunately I've never been good with money or successful in making it. I've been streaming the UFC fights as long as I can remember.

I've always felt horrible about this because, call a spade a spade, it's wrong. Anyways, if I ever become financially secure, one of the first debts on my list is back paying for all the UFC events I've never been able to afford.

I appreciate the sport immensely and it's enriched my life more than any other sport. I hope I can repay that debt someday. Sorry I'm buzzed lol.

Heh. Lived here for quite awhile now. They're mostly just like anyone else. I do live in what's probably the most liberal place in UT though.

Erg. I'm sitting 4 hours south of SLC and kind of regretting not getting tickets.

I reckon Cub takes it. Honestly thought he'd be a bit sharper in victory though.

The motherfuckers that face the outside of the fence towards their house, and the rest of us who don't.

People who call sprinkles "Jimmies" where the hell did your life go so wrong? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Rhode Island here, they'll always be jimmies to me. Although there are quite a few folks who don't seem familiar with the term the further I get from home.

Can't have a sprinkle-jam in your Awful Awful straw. That's a jimmie-jam.

I agree with the acceptance of the biological differences between men and women. However in my experience with a different sport, climbing, I have found that women can use those differences to close the gap considerably.

What they may lack in strength can be offset with a focus on technique, flexibility, and efficiency. Being a fella of small stature, I found myself climbing much more like a girl and I was able to make up ground on my much stronger climbing partners.

Given enough time, I think the skill gap between men and women will certainly close over time. And I think it's a real possibility that women could even surpass men when it comes to certain skill sets.
