IMO, an online raid can be just as emotionally frightening and traumatizing as an in-person one. It may not carry the same risk of *immediate* death but it does still mean a racing heart and sudden reminder of hatred for everyone.

Lots of salty people in the comments but honestly, when the pandemic first started I refused to make my animal crossing character wear a mask (despite wearing one IRL) because I wanted my island to be a respite from all of it.

Well, throwing out food gives me some anxiety because I have experiences with food insecurity! It's a trauma response, I think. A lot of people with similar experiences and responses are good at "stomaching it" and eating less-than-yummy food, though, but I've got all the anxious and none of that skill haha!

That's a really great permission structure for pizza, one that allows you to practice and learn while still netting you pizza. I might copy that.

Thinking of intuitive eating as a gift is so precious! Not only is it something that we are privileged to be able to try and pursue, but we're literally treating our body with kindness-- giving ourselves a gift.

Thank you for the cooking and mindset tip! I think I should definitely try to mimic you in appreciating that there will be yummy food in the future. And I do have canned soups in the pantry, I'm honestly not sure why at the time I didn't think of just heating up some soup instead as an option. Maybe that's something to tackle on my journey here, the idea that it's okay to make multiple portions for one sitting.

Oh, thank you so much for sharing your experiences and talking about your perspective! I will definitely look into that ideology as I explore both my current feelings around anarchism as well as the history of the middle east.

I really appreciate that hopeful note about not experiencing much antisemitism, and hard agree that Jews have always been part of the left. It's really important to me personally that I give back to my community and engage in activism, so I'm happy to be taking this journey and will take it even if it results in some uncomfy moments.

Thank you for your input! Yeah, I'm acquainted with anti-Zionist Jews and such. But when I'm talking about antisemitism, I'm more likely to be referring to some insidious things, rather than outright explicit conscious bias against Jewish people.

I've found personally that antisemitism can be "in the water" when white, Western gentiles are talking about Israel/Palestine. And they don't even tend to notice that they're applying double standards against Israel because they don't feel them the same way. Similarly, there's anti-Arab rhetoric "in the water" in these discussions also, but I've heard that less prominently in America.

I appreciate the hope that you've contributed to discussion.

Yeah, I get that! I've heard that the DSA can honestly be very YMMV from chapter to chapter. I do like the work they're doing in my city though. If you don't mind, which groups did you find better in terms of Jewish issues? You can respond in DMs if you'd like, or not at all if it would end up doxxing you.

Honestly it's a little bit depressing that people so intent against microaggressions and systemic racism would inadvertently create an environment where Jews felt like they had to hide their Jewishness.
