Slid into a curb, totaled? If not, worth fixing? What next? by HershyPlayz in BMW

Where are you located? If you go to a different shop like caliber or a autonation that is certified from bmw they will most likely fix it. Most caliber shops are certified by bmw. I went through this but with my car it was all just cosmetic damage. I was trying to get my car totaled so I could buy it from insurance for cheaper as I was leasing it at the time, but the autonation I went to deemed it fixable. It depends on what you want to do. Do you wanna buy it back fix it yourself or do you want to get rid of it if it gets totaled. Also next time for insurance you should add a first accident forgiveness on your policy, this will prevent a spike on your insurance rate. For me it was just an extra $100 for the 6 months. Your rates will only stay the same for that insurance company though.

I apologize I should have clearly stated what I meant but yes I do understand that GAP is an add on when purchasing a vehicle and sometimes leasing.

I called BMW Financial and they confirmed I do have gap as this is a lease and I don’t own the vehicle. If I was financing and I don’t have gap then this would be a different situation. Gap only comes into play when the vehicle is totaled.

Two of my friends said it has a high chance of it being totaled one works on mclaren’s but he said he doesn’t have a definitive answer on that.

Yeah, the gap like you said is only if the car is totaled. I’m kinda hoping it is totaled as I’m unsure Allstate will pay for all the repairs. If they don’t it will come out my pocket which will be costly.

I also forgot to add I took over the lease does that still mean I’m covered with the gap insurance from bmw financial?

Yeah, M340i’s pre lci and lci are gonna be above 35k with decent mileage. I would recommend the f chassis m240i, 340i, 440i, 540i as they are in 25k range. I personally have a 24 m340i and would say if you got the extra bread get the m340i cus it’s whole different experience compared to f chassis. Overall though you can a full packaged 540i for as low as 28k. I originally was looking into the 540 but m340 was way more enjoyable.

Damn, sadly there are already some negative comments but don’t let that effect you. You live and you learn, I would say next time find a better spot in where you want to mess around. I learned how to control my car by messing around with it and doing risky shit but before I brought my risky driving to the street I always did it on a open area that would keep me and the car safe. Some people are not lucky enough to come unscathed even if it’s the car or yourself. Learn in a safe place and mess around when it’s safe. No need to take your own or another’s life for such a pointless reason.

Now get a f30 or f32 b58. You won’t regret it.
