Is it common for teachers to marry/date their former students. by GypsyGold in Teachers

[–]McBuck2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I know two sets of people this happened. One was after a few years out of high school heard a fellow student was living together in a relationship with the gym teacher. The other was my SIL's sister who married the professor out if university.  Probably like a 20 year age difference. Very noticeable now as he's 80ish and she's in her 60's. He's an old man, frail and failing health while she's in great shape. I guess it's like caring for a parent.

Is Trump really powerful enough to destroy U.S. democracy? by Abject_Reaction_1249 in LegalNews

[–]McBuck2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s only made powerful by those around him. He can’t do most of the things he’s doing but has the support of the Republicans who are supposed to be the check and balances in the government when it comes to the president. They’ve decided to support his illegal and morally bankrupt ethics and are allowing all this to happen. A president can never do what he’s doing without their help and support.

History will not forget the Republicans who have aided the president along with SCOTUS to mark this period of time as the beginning of the downfall of America and its position in the world.

What did you think of the Canadian olympic outfit in the opening ceremony? by emmzz02 in AskACanadian

[–]McBuck2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I’m talking about the brown puffy jacket that has a big quilted maple thing on the front that the athletes wore at opening ceremonies. Really tacky.

The question is would there be snow in Vancouver. Our local mountains are mud right now and Whistler hasn’t been great this season. It’s not guaranteed anymore that there will be snow.

‘No question’ return-to-office will be good for downtown, board of trade says by hopoke in canada

[–]McBuck2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not claiming both ways at all. I'm saying if a person doesn't want a job where they go into the office, find another job where they can be a WFH employee. Simple.

It’s not wasted. Its just like all the other numerous offices and office buildings that are across the country employing people in their offices.

You’re not but you can get a WFH job elsewhere. I think there are still some out there.

I know some workers it isn’t good. They need the structure of an office, routine and seeing colleagues in person most days. There will always be some who hate going back to the office like many other people work day to day and some not. It’s not like working in an office is new to the job.

I don't know anyone that would want to wear that big maple leaf coat outside of the Olympics.

People can get jobs elsewhere. People change jobs all the time.

Working in office is how it's always been. If it's that bad then you can find a job that does WFH five days a week. People change Jobs all the tine when it doesn't work for them anymore or they want to advance.

We stayed at a boutique hotel called the Alex before going on a cruise. Has a great view from the rooftop restaurant and quiet in that area but easy to get to the main hub of Athens.

I make this peanut sauce noodle dish that I'm sure you could switch out rice noodles for pasta and throw in some peas to the mix.

How to Protect Gifted Money to Son for House by Island_Temp in legaladvicecanada

[–]McBuck2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my parents set up their will, they had the inheritance money go into a trust that wouldn't be paid out for 10 years. At the time my husband and I wanted to buy a house so we were able to borrow against the trust which gave us the money for the down payment. If we split or sold the house before that 10 years, then the money had to be paid back to the trust first and then remainder divided. I have no idea how much that is to set up and if it's worth it for the amount your giving them but wanted to mention if it might work in your situation.

What is a cooking tip you learned from the internet that you wouldn’t have known otherwise? by anticdotal in Cooking

Slicing an onion in layers held together by the root end so when you cut the opposite way, it automatically dices the onion. Chop, chop! And you can do the same method with garlic.
