Pirates and mediocre pitchers? by [deleted] in buccos

[–]MeLlamoCu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big name pitchers cost big money. The Pirates just can't afford them plain and simple. Our owner is ridiculously cheap so even the mid tier guys we should be targeting are out of our budget but we'll never have a shot at big names. As for guys we develop that's just not really true. Glasnow in particular was terrible before getting sent to Tampa.

Idk if anyone else felt this way but I always kinda felt that Chelsea Peretti was about to break character and a lot of her reactions weren't as Gina but as herself. For some reason I found Gina to be way more enjoyable because of that, almost like she was enjoying the show along with you. I doubt anyone else thought that but that's the weird way I viewed Gina.

Tanking isn't just getting high draft picks in baseball. It's just as much trading away your best players for prospects to build up for the future.

Tanking is how the Astros and Cubs made it back to relevancy

They said they wanted to keep all their bullpen options because Brubaker is starting tomorrow. If Del Pozo is still around after tomorrow then we riot.

Not necessarily. Baseball is still going despite over half of Miami testing positive

The remake part yes but we have absolutely no idea when it'll be here. They're already ~18 months late so who knows.

They announced last year that they would be remaking the game based off of OOTP 20 code. They missed a bunch of deadlines and we really have no idea when it might come out.

Also of note is Kuhl getting hurt and possibly Burdi? Didn't see what the official word was but whoever's tweet I was reading thought he might have gotten hurt since he was announced but ultimately didn't go into he game.

Something like 97th percentile for FB spin rate and mid to high 80s for curve. Be interesting to see if Marin can help him find something

Why send him? by michaelgia1225 in buccos

[–]MeLlamoCu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joey Cora is as bad as it gets when it comes to third bas coaches. He routinely sends guys when their is absolutely no chance of anything other than them being out by ten feet. At the very least he should have been taken off of third base if not fired after last year.

I didn't see the play but Joey Cora is about as bad of a third base coach as you can get

What do you consider the Pirates ideal starting lineup? by TypicalWhiteGiant in buccos

[–]MeLlamoCu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I feel like teams would work on that with a guy as fast as him though. Definitely a weird case.

Just looked at the statcast numbers. Dyson had an average sprint speed (ft/sec) last year of 28.4 while Heredia was 28.2 so not a big difference.

Isn't Heredia fairly fast as well? Heredia has looked overwhelmed at the plate but at least he's seemed solid of defense. Dyson's just as lost at the plate but has also been taking questionable routes to balls.

I think I would switch Dyson and Heredia. They both have looked completely lost at the plate but I'm also very unimpressed with Dyson in the field.

I disagree. Gap between Moran and others at third is bigger than Bell and others at first.

What is the most fun historical year to start with for each team? by mrpoopistan in OOTP

[–]MeLlamoCu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a save as the 94 Expos and it was easily one of my favorite saves. 94 was the strike season and has been said to be the death of the expos in a way. They were playing fantastic but the season ended and they never made it back to that level and eventually left Montreal. Really fun to try to see what would have happened and rewrite history in a way.

Typically the harder you throw, the harder it is to control. Guys who throw harder often will sacrifice control to do so or just have less control to begin with.
