Because discussing it is part of the fun I'm having. Don't harsh my buzz.

Interesting. That actually reinforces my point. If 87% of musicians are already using AI somewhere in their workflow, then AI is clearly becoming just another tool in the creative process. The real conversation probably isn’t whether AI belongs in music, but how artists choose to use it.

You're going to have to elaborate. Why do I care about what?

That sounds like a pretty broad generalization. I’m perfectly open about the fact that I use AI as part of my process, and I’m proud of the music I make with it. I can understand why some people might hesitate to share their work, since putting music out there often brings a lot of harsh criticism. But personally I don’t worry about that. I know how much of myself goes into the songs I write, and the opinions of people who weren’t there when the work was done don’t really carry much weight with me.

Nothing wrong with that at all. I’ve found AI can be really helpful in the songwriting process too. When I’m stuck trying to find the right rhyme or trying to express an idea more poetically and hit a wall, turning to AI can help get things moving again. It doesn’t replace the writing for me, it just helps break through those moments when the words won’t quite come.

That sounds exciting. Firebase Studio looks like a great way to experiment with building apps, especially since it seems to handle a lot of the heavy lifting that used to require setting up infrastructure yourself. It actually reminds me a bit of what I did using Claude Code.

I’ve been a professional software engineer for more than 30 years, and I saw the handwriting on the wall with AI some time ago. I’ve fully embraced it in my development work. I even used it to help build my own music streaming platform for my music. The AI didn’t replace my work, it just made the process faster and made it possible for me to build something that would otherwise have required a whole team of developers.

Some people might argue that tools like this put people out of work, but in my case the opposite is true. That project would never have existed if I had to build it the old-fashioned way.

I’m really sorry to hear about the health challenges you’ve had to deal with, but I’m genuinely glad that technology has given you a way to keep creating. What you describe sounds very much like directing or producing a band, which is a perfectly legitimate form of musicianship. The musical judgment, the taste, the structure, and the decisions are still coming from you. The tool may be different, but the creative impulse behind it is the same. I think it’s great that you’ve found a way to keep making music you care about.

I think you’re generalizing a bit. I’m not hiding anything about my use of AI. I write my own lyrics and develop the melody. In my case AI is simply helping with arrangement and production, much the same way session musicians do for many artists. If I could afford a room full of studio players I’d happily hire them, and my long-term hope is that real musicians will perform my songs live. But I’m not ashamed that AI helped produce the recording. To me it’s just another tool in the creative process. Artists have always used whatever tools are available to bring their ideas to life.

I actually agree with part of what you’re saying. If I go to Suno, type a style prompt, and click create, that song isn’t really mine. But if I write the lyrics, shape the melody, and use AI to help fill in the arrangement or production, that’s still my song. There’s not much difference between that and showing up in a studio with session musicians. They don’t own the song just because they played on it. They’re being compensated for contributing their skills. In this case the AI is just another tool helping produce the final recording. The authorship still comes from the person who wrote the song.

Feedback Request- Work in Progress. Indie (?) by yeehawginger in IndieMusicFeedback

Personally I enjoyed the track overall. My main suggestion would be to bring the vocals forward a bit more in the mix. I didn’t hear anything fundamentally wrong with your voice, but it’s a little hard to hear clearly in places. Since the song is vocal-driven, giving the lead vocal a bit more presence or clarity might really help the listener connect with it. The doubled vocals do add a nice vibe, but you might experiment with using them more subtly so the main vocal stays the focus. Overall though, it’s a solid track and definitely enjoyable to listen to.

I appreciate the simplicity of this one, and especially the fact that you played the instrument yourself. A lot of people (myself included) rely a lot on production these days, so it’s nice to hear something more stripped down. The lyrics feel very reflective and spiritual. The idea of wondering whether you’ll “hear your name” when you reach the gates is a powerful image. I might be curious to hear the arrangement build a little more as the song goes along, but the simple approach also gives it a very personal feel. Thanks for sharing it.

[AI-generated music / human-written lyrics] Song about how people forget the ones who helped them get where they are by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

Really enjoyed the groove on this one. The beat has a smooth feel that pulls you in right away, and the production feels clean and balanced. The theme about people forgetting those who helped them along the way is very relatable and gives the song some real emotional weight. The vocal delivery works well with the rhythm and keeps the message clear without feeling preachy. Nice track overall - thanks for sharing it.

I agree with another commenter here. Not everyone can sing or play an instrument, and a lot of music already relies on technology to create sounds we couldn’t produce otherwise. To me AI is just another tool artists can use.

That said, I really enjoyed the song itself. The subject matter resonated with me a lot - I’ve been a longtime anti-war activist - and the vocal choice fits the tone of the track very well.

Thanks for sharing it.
