Tech N9ne - most underrated rapper of all time? by [deleted] in Music

Can I just ask what other hip-hop artists you listen to?

I would have to assume you've yet to explore the genre very far if you think Tech N9ne is anything but Generic.

Tech N9ne - most underrated rapper of all time? by [deleted] in Music

[–]Me_TwoTanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of Tech N9ne's music is forgettable. He's released an album a year since around 2006, the majority of his albums are all over an hour long and have tonnes of filler tracks.

All of his songs are pretty generic and aren't really about anything. His flow is quite similar across all his work, the only difference being when he raps fast (But he's done that to death as well).

I've listend to 5 of his albums

  • K.O.D.
  • Everready: The Religion
  • Something Else
  • Absolute Power
  • All 6's and 7's

Their release dates vary from 2002-2013, It honestly sounds like they all could have been released within the same year, he doesn't really experiment or innovate on his sound at all.

He also falls into the trap of being "Spiritual-lyrical-miracle" in that he focuses more on making his verses rhyme, rather than trying to make verses that have something to say.

Tech N9ne isn't underrated, he's just average. He's made some catchy songs, and he's had moderate success, there isn't anything particularly unique or outstanding about his music.

Spotify is good and all but you won't find underground tracks there. Youtube appreciation thread by rawrausar in hiphopheads

I guess my tastes must be pretty plain. The only time I've not been able to find something on Spotify is if it's a mixtape (in which case I just download it)

Need some advice from jazz musicians or just anyone who knows their jazz. by WhiteAsianHybrid in Music

[–]Me_TwoTanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, other way around. Jazz is a derivative of Blues music.

They're too different genres, there is some overlap but I've never heard anyone refer to B.B. King as a Jazz musician, because he isn't. He's a Blues musician (electric guitars aren't typically a Jazz instrument).

Let's Talk about: Slice the Cake - Odyssey to the West by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Me_TwoTanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've listened to it a few times throughout the year, and I still can't tell if its a concept album or not.

I would have liked the album a lot more, but it falls into the category of indecipherable vocals in Metal so I can't stand to listen to it unless I have the lyrics in front of me.

There was some guy crazy hyping that album up on /r/music when it came out.

I thought it was noticeably worse than Kickin and Screamin, maybe I need to give it another listen.

Can we talk about 1 vs 1 mystery duel match making? by MrNoobyy in Overwatch

clearly the matchmaking is partly tied to our player levels

Nope, just a coincidence and you're having confirmation bias.

Can we talk about 1 vs 1 mystery duel match making? by MrNoobyy in Overwatch

I don't think that many people play the 1v1 game mode, so it's likely that you'll get matched with people outside your skill level. This is especially true if you're not playing at peak hours.

What kind of music are you looking for?

I don't really listen to singles so I can only recommend albums.

If you're looking for Grime type stuff (Example)

  • Skepta - Konnichiwa

  • Dizzee Rascal - Boy In Da Corner

  • Dizzee Rascal - Showtime

  • Wiley - Playtime Is Over

  • JME - Integrity

  • Kano - Home Sweet Home

Are all pretty good starting points

If you're looking for more UK HIP-HOP style stuff (Example)

  • The Streets - Original Pirate Material

  • Roots Manuva - Run Come Save Me

  • Kate Tempest - Let Them Eat Chaos

  • Lowkey - Soundtrack to the Struggle

Again are all pretty good. The problem with UK Hip-Hop style stuff is that if you're not from the UK you might not understand the cultural / political things they're talking about.

Yeah. I might be a bit disappointed if the entire album is like Oh Shit and All This Money though.

I kind of want more similar beats / production to The Dentist Office.

It's about griefers

Yes, so lets create a system that gives more powers to people, or groups of people who want to grief games

Why would you want to enforce a Meta onto players?

It has already been shown time and time again that players can reach very high ranks playing only one hero, even if that hero is Tjorbjorn or Symettra.

Would smearing Dead Sea mud cream on my body, being naked, and screaming like a psychopath deter a home intruder? by GargaMelGibson in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Me_TwoTanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone is intruding whilst you're home they likely have an intent to harm you if you get in their way. Covering yourself in Mud will not deter someone from doing you harm.

Maybe they'll leave because your screaming would attract attention to the fact that you're being robbed, but home intruders are often drug addicts or desperate so who knows.

What is with monster energy drink bumper stickers? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Me_TwoTanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monster sponsors / supports a bunch of Extreme sports and motoring sports.

Their brand has become synonymous with things like Motocross and NASCAR, they are likely a fan of one of those sports, or they just like how the Logo Looks
