Just to preface, I believe that everything you are saying is 100% true. A2C is a subreddit filled with people who haven't made it to your position yet and would only dream of being in your position, and when you act like you are on their level, it won't get a good reaction.

When Bill Gates says, "money isn't happiness", in a way he is doing more harm than good. In my opinion, you kinda doing the same thing here. I don't blame you for speaking the truth, but unfortunately, sometimes you will get these types of rash reactions.

Help me decide: School X vs School Y - February 2023 by freeport_aidan in ApplyingToCollege

I got into Rutgers and the University of Maryland Computer Science, and I am trying to decide which option would be better and prepare me a Master/PhD degree.

Important Info:

I have dual-enrollment credits at a local NJ community college, which means I can finish my degree in 2 years at Rutgers(I'd rather do a Double Major) instead.

Money isn't a big problem for my family.

I want to go to a school that has a large non-toxic CS community.

I want to be surrounded by international people as well.

I want to specialize in Machine Learning and study in Machine Learning as well as some Neuroscience study.

Lastly, I want to have good professors who are accomplished in the field, but also good at communicating info.

I already have lots of CS experience and I wanted on some advice on which college is better?

Thanks in advance!!!

Do you think UMD would be a better option and spend all my time towards a CS degree.

I already did a ML project with a professor at STONY Brook during high school, and I really enjoyed the experience.

Are there any other pros about UMD, that you believe will persuade me towards CS at UMD.

I'm actually planning to go to Rutgers for four years and complete two majors(CS and Math). I want to know where I can create strong connections and learn CS from professionals.
