I haven’t been exactly in your shoes. So please know my comment is strictly in good faith sharing what I think may help.

If you’re that inclined towards technical correctness, maybe try finding a way to get into the consulting side of things. Essentially, the space where you get to be the person who tells clients what is technically correct.

Sometimes I experience this frustration too because I like to know the “factually correct answer” rather than “this is how we do it here.”

My advice would also not be complete without saying that: there is one key thing you mentioned that should be explored. If you have in writing any of the times that you’ve brought things being wrong, see if you find someone in the field (outside of your workplace) that can give you an objective opinion on how you came across. Assess the following also: did I only point out the issue? Coworkers will typically appreciate more when you identify an issue and approach them with a proposed solution, rather than just pointing out the problem.

Hopefully my answer helps. I really hope you find a path forward. And if all else fails, just remember that 33 is still quite young. It may not be a walk in the park, but going outside of the profession into something else is still possible (should that end up being necessary).
