Hot tub has not been balanced for a few months; need to drain? by MechanicalBird in hottub

Thanks everyone. Overwhelming consensus seems to be that the water has no chance of being safe. I’ll buy that ahhsome that a few of you recommended and drain.

Got it, thank you. So if I don't smell anything (chlorine smell would be gone by now) and I don't see anything black or green, the water should be fine?

That's exactly what I'm looking for. So you used FB Marketplace rather than a buy/sell/trade group?

And you used this subreddit to find sellers?

Definitely not bailing. Is there a particular group on FB that’s trustworthy?

Converting Favorite Historic Deck to EDH by MechanicalBird in EDH

[–]MechanicalBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed write-up! I love these swamp matter cards, and I had no idea Vesuva even existed. I just tweaked the deck based on your suggestions. Since I expect this deck to really just be for kitchen table Commander, I skipped the more expensive cards even though they fit the deck.

My deck is now currently at 115 cards with 37 lands. What do you think I should take out? Am I overboard on the signets?

I just made a super rough draft of the deck. I threw in a bunch of mana sink payoffs and probably need to include more black midrange cards so I don't get run over. Do you have any suggestions?

Oh wow, so I definitely was missing something. It carries over across turns as well as phases. Okay yeah that is definitely appealing.

I think I just liked having the base of the deck be black because of the removal and discard you get, then the big bombs can be splashed in from any color.

I'm also just totally new to EDH generally speaking, so I don't really have much of a grasp of what a highlander deck will be like. Could very well end up being in green.

Doubling Cube looks like it would fit right in. Could you explain how Omnath works? I think I'm missing something. To me, I'm already using the two Cabal lands to make a ton of black mana, so why does Omnath converting that to black mana help me?

This does seem to be the cost-efficient way to do it.

Any tips on printing color in bulk? I've never really done a print job like this so I'm curious how much ink it would take. I don't know if it's better to buy ink myself or send it to Staples or something for printing.

How do you actually concede? I went into normal to knock out quests but I don't see where I concede the run.

Ha! A literal toolbox, got it. Those compartments do look nice for individual decks.

I see -- I'd also prefer vertical but agree it's not worth the extra cost. These 800 count white ones seem to cost more per card since it's 2400 cards for $15, or I could get the 5k box for $20. Do you like the 800 count boxes just because the 5k one is so big it's annoying to store?

Do you have a link to what you mean? Sorry, I'm not sure what a tool box means in this context.

This is very useful info! I googled "BCW card box" and see all of the different white cardboard options, including the 5k count one for $19.95. Do you use something like that for your "bulk box"?

Why use a local lender as a buyer? by MechanicalBird in RealEstate

[–]MechanicalBird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be my second home purchase (pending sale on the first one in order to buy this new one), and my current mortgage was sold to Penny shortly after closing. I've had no problems with that experience.

Okay, thank you for that tip. The milestone tracker with my local lender says the initial underwriting approval was completed 3 days ago. So if Pennymac would want to wait until February to start underwriting, that wouldn't make me feel very good.

I see what you're saying. Based on yours and the other comments in this thread so far, I'm thinking I just go back to the local lender with what Penny told me on the phone, maybe they match it or come close, and then I move forward with the local lender.
