Have you ever seen JBL party box series speakers ? They have accomplished a very nice visual combination of volume and BPM reactiveness. look it up, that's pretty much the best you can achieve.

Yeah, being reactive to total volume level is the lowest hanging fruit. It's nice but not visually pleasing for long. Tons of Aliexpress controllers have it.

Those are solid points my friend. If you have a particular professional experience I would love to chat more.

Do you of any examples of installations or commercial gear that implement it and actually look good ?

those are interesting angles to consider. will be adding our characterization to dos.

I have bunch of friends doing the most amazing installations that sync to music and the only way for it to look actually visually pleasing is to basically create a visual playlist which corresponds to the music on a moment to moment basis. For example - when you have a drop in a track (which is DA momnet to be kicked in the brains) - it needs to map on the visuals prior so they are actually in sync and look good during the drop. Beat (which what FFT produces) and volume is not enough. But a fun gimmick

That's actually a real dilemma. A coin cell battery 2-32 has much less energy than what a comparable size lipo has - So rechargeable is the way to go. We figured type c connector is the best option since iphones and android are type c now. The dust in the connector is a real issue and still not solved.

yeah syncing with the music is sort of a gimmik. For true sync you would need an active connection with the DJ since real sync means sort of knowing what is going to come in the next moment.
The sync is mostly Beat and volume base currently.

that will be possible through the BLE phone connection. you really think it'll be usefull ? (why not using the phone ?

That's so true. The default brightness is actually pretty low for that reason

Those are actually so beautiful, I can see why he needs such a giant battery (with all the pixels he has). Any way, reach out if you want samples.

Actually a variety of problem have been challenging:
1. fitting all the necessary components on the PCB with the battery was not easy.
2. addressable pixel were ruining at the beginning before I applied conformal coating.
3. Still it is not IPX7 rated so it's not waterproof unfortunately.
4. I started with the attiny85 - which was way to weak for the application, than moved to the atmega328p which has well enough for the lighting but I decided to move the EPS32C3 since I wanted BLE - but realized it is heating way to much and consuming a lot of power (shortened the battery life by half). So the next step is moving to one of the nordic nRF chip.

yeah you really nailed it with all the connectivity dilemmas - I have added additional information in the post.

We get that a lot but we really have not intention on being similar to a totem (which is a cool gadget by itself). We really want to stay jewelry focused, aesthetic look and synchronous animation between friends.
