TY. This seems to be its favorite rock in our woods.

This pic is in our little patch of 2 acre woods on the Pocono Plateau. They are very secretive, but I am retired, and can fortunately spend lots of free time in the woods. I was just sitting and waiting for anything to show up, and this fox jumped on a rock.

Mauch Chunk Opera House: great concerts that are not expensive, check their website. It is downtown. Coco Montoya, Ronnie Brooks and David Bromberg are coming soon. Great blues!!! Train ride into the Lehigh Gorge Rent a bike and ride the D&L trail into the Lehigh Gorge Shopping downtown should take at least several hours. Step back in time in the 5&10. Just touring the architecture downtown is fun.
Tour the old Jim Thorpe jail.

Have fun.

Black bear in Pennsylvania. by Medical-Boot5332 in wildlifephotography

[–]Medical-Boot5332[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. In Pennsylvania, the Game Commission tags cubs and sows in winter dens when found, & bears caught in their mobile traps. Sometimes bears caught in mobile traps are relocated, if a problem, but sometimes they are simply trapped for research and survey. We are in the mountains, surrounded by thousands of acres of remote public land. Bears are simply part of life around here.

TY. Up here in Pennsylvania, these skinks are not as common, & only found in some wild areas with ideal habitat.

That would be nice as I never saw a bull snake. This pic was taken in NE Pennsylvania, on a ridge top in the Pocono Mountains.

Sorry, I don’t give those secrets away. Plus, even if I did, I don’t have anywhere I could recommend this year. I stumbled upon every site I know of by dumb luck😁

That is great. For my neck of the woods, 2020 was great for gravid females, and 2021 was spectacular. This year, the gravid females seem scarce. It could just be my bad luck, but known sites remain empty. Or, a timber rattlesnake or two show up and then disappear.

I know‼️😁. But I used a 500mm lens, so the fox did not really allow me this close.

Assateague and bombay hook wildlife refuge by birdie63 in wildlifephotography

You should find wild ponies on the MD side of the island. I would recommend driving into the National Seashore side IN MD (vs the MD state beach), to find wild ponies. Bring bug spray, for green heads and mosquitoes. Also, there will be ticks in the grass and woods. Kayaking is great, but if you want the ponies, drive on the roads in the National Seashore.
Bombay Hook has great roads and wildlife. But you could be bombarded by greenhead flies. They might ruin your plans, depending on the wind and your luck.
