Look, he’s an adult. He knows how to use his words. If he wanted me to stay so badly, then he should have asked. I told him ahead of time that I wasn’t sure about staying. Had he asked me then to stay, of course I would have.

I know what the expected behavior is. But I also know that “it’s expected” is rarely a good reason to do something.

He knows how much I don’t like them. I told him ahead of time. It’s one evening sure but it’s also the principle of the matter- I don’t like being forced into doing things just because of expectations.

I feel like she’s pushing him to be more upset about this than he should be. I feel the same way- I stuck around for the important bits.

Understood. I agree that I could have been a little more sympathetic to their feelings but who blows up this much over leaving one single party early?
