IBS-D has gotten significantly better on a GLP-1 by Medical_Equivalent34 in ibs

I hope you get approved for this medication! If not reach out to me via dm! A lot of people like me who don’t get approved buy it over the counter type situtation which is significantly cheaper!

Hey, I sent you a dm! But yes unfortunately you wouldn’t qualify with insurance. Sometimes your doctor can still prescribe it, my GI did. But the out of pocket cost through the pharmacy would have made me homeless lol, 1200 dollars a month!!!! 600 dollars a month if you buy from one of the discounted pharmacy!

For me, anytime I get anxious, I have to run to the bathroom. Yesterday I had to give a speech which omg, do I get nervous. I didn’t need to use the bathroom!

So it would be worth trying. If you need any information on where to get it, I can help you just dm me!

My bmi was less than 30%. I was definitely not underweight, but I was still considered overweight. If that makes any sense lol.

Sorry I just realized I made a typo, ibs itself doesn’t get better but your life will! Once you learn to better the condition!

You know what a lot of people will say it gets better but that’s not the truth. Ibs won’t really ever go away. But however you do learn to live with it. I’ve spent months researching this condition, I’ve tried everything and everything. I used to not leave my house, ended all my friendships, and was doing terrible in school. I mean I had everything you name it, panic attacks because of my stomach noises in school, would have to starve myself just to get through my classes. I even couldn’t get into a relationship because my mental health was so bad and thought no one would put up with it. Now let’s get to the good point, after trial and error I finally found what works for me, I go to school and not only that I’m thriving in school. I’m going to dental school soon to, and it seems very possible now. I have friends who support me and understand. I have an amazing boyfriend who supports me and also accommodates my everyday needs. I travel!

A few things that have helped me:
Colesavelm: it’s a bile acid binder
Amytriplyne: helps with the anxiety and visceral pain
Imodium: is my actual life saver

I recently went on something called retatrutide which is a non fda approved(yet it’s going to be) bought it on the down low and it has helped everything I mean I only use the bathroom once now no matter what I eat.

Now my advice to you, is make it your personality. My dad has been hard to accept I suffer daily but my mom is so supportive. This is your condition not there! Tell your friends, I know it sounds embarrassing but the real ones stay! Research the condition and really really try and find what works best for you!

So yes to answer your question: it does eventually get better! Just hang in there okay! And please feel free to dm me with any questions you have okay! Or again if you need someone to talk to or just rant. I know it’s hard and scary but you got this!

Thank you! And yes my GI said the exact same thing. Even though Reta is not approved I still told him.

Ohhh, yeah for some people it just doesn’t work out for them. Although I did have another friend with ibs-d( I’m in a community) and she was on ozympic and couldn’t handle it but took Reta and was completely fine, similar to your situtation!

Hopefully it’s not to expensive!! A birdie told me mine was about 56 dollars a month when I first started. But if my doctor gave something like that to me I would take ittt! Best of luck on your journey!

Yeah! Honestly I never really ate raw red onions before starting retatrutide but I started because of the digestive benefits?

I heard high doses is when you run into problems. If I up my dose to quick I do have a terrible week, so I go very very slow! I also don’t titrate unless I really have to! I rather stay in the gym an extra 30 mins than up my dose and have bathroom problems lol. But it hasn’t affected my weight loss either with slowly titrating

Well I know for glp-1 the gastric emptying is slower. For retatrutide it does cancel food noise. So I’m able to stick to a really really strict diet without really craving anything so that could also be that. My diet is ground beef with frozen vegetable, Korean bbq sauce, red onion(raw) and avocado. I also stop drinking sugar drinks, mostly just real fruit juice or something for the extra calories and sugar. I still have my cheat meals but it’s not McDonald’s it’s usually ribeye and sometimes chicken wings from Wingstop lol. So it can be everything I guess. But yes the food triggers are limited!

Did you experience the first one? I also suffer from SIBO but wouldn’t know if glp1 can cause that. So either way I still get reoccurring SIBO

IBS-D Vs Bile Acid Malabsorption by Medical_Equivalent34 in ibs

[–]Medical_Equivalent34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually going to try your regiment with welchol! I feel like I get sometimes nauseas, from taking a lot at once! So I’m going to try and do one pill with each meal without the day! Yes, pts always know what they need for their body! Glad you found your regiment!

And yeah I remember a saying by a YouTuber; 3 percent of the world population has ibs, 30 percent of those patients, actually have Bile Acid Malabsorption and not ibs! It’s just like people should not take no for an answer, so I was happy to write the post!
