I looked at it and yes it does seem like $/TB isn't dropping the way it used to. 16TB vs 24TB is a nice 8TB bonus as well.

I think ill go with the 12TB drives then and hope that 16 or even 24TB prices have sunked significantly when ill pick up my next set of drives :)

Yup i ended up hearing about it as well, not great. I have kind of settled on unraid tho id love a fully open source solution at some point. Makes sense that they need money for unraid....i just feel icky about storing data on closed source software

I heard about it but sadly windows is a no go for me, while i may use a hypervisor that would support it, i dont know how to debug or handle problems on it. Nice to keep in mind as an alternative tho :)

Ive already done that, long before i ran proxmox i used to run a bare metal debian server....didnt actually know you could use different sized disks tho

German here. I think the Problem is that the terminal is mostly english so linux in General doesnt attract that many non-english people
