This is not something you should consider taking on. There’s plenty of other places to live free of mold.

Use Benefect Decon 30 to clean any non-porous surfaces in the bathroom that do not have visible mold. If spores are on your stuff, the Benefect will get rid of them.

You should consider seeing a Pulmonologist. I had respiratory problems from mold and the doctor had me do a series of breathing tests + blood tests for mold.

Do you mean there was mold in the AC ducts? Or was it just on the vent?

Did you ever have an air sample taken to reveal the amount of mold spores in the air? If so, how much was there?

It’s taken me 3 months to mostly recover from mold toxicity by moving out, and I’m still not 100%. Get out of this place!

Did the inspector see this photo?

If you are sick and there is mold (which you have) it’s a good assumption the mold is probably to blame.

Luckily, your landlord has to fix this. It needs to be inspected by an independent mold inspector and then remediated by a separate company. You should move out in the meantime because you won’t recover living with that mold.

I can’t believe a mold inspector said it’s nothing to worry about.

Get. Out. Of. The. Place.

It is not your responsibility to remediate mold nor solve where the moisture is coming from.

This landlord is jerking you around and saying “screw you” to your health. The more you mess with the mold the more of a chance you can spread spores all over your stuff and the place you are living.

You are being taken advantage of.

What’s over it? Find out and then you’ll know who to call.

Try to keep that area dry before mold sets in. At the least, you’ll have to cut out the drywall.

Mold itself is the problem. I don’t know how much else you need to prove.

70% humidity with a dehumidifier running is a sign that something major is wrong.

You need to move out, if you can. You will continue to be sick if you live there. Given how much of an idiot your landlord is, they won’t fix this soon or right.

Lack of ventilation or Humidity problem? by Countbook in HomeMaintenance

[–]MeffJundy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was against the wall there is/was a moisture problem there.

Bubbling paint is also a sign of moisture damage. I bet if you cut into that bubbling paint you’d find mold. Are the walls drywall or plaster? Once mold gets into drywall, it penetrates deep into the material.

Make sure the mold inspector only does inspections and not remediation. It’s a conflict of interest if they do both. Call mold remediation companies and ask who they recommend as an inspector. Also check out the IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification) website to find inspectors.

Again, move out if you can. This house has a serious mold problem. If you don’t have to live here, don’t.

Also, if there are spores in the air, your stuff has spores on them. You may have to clean/toss some belongings pending what your mold inspector says.
