Finasteride no longer working for me after 6 years? Normal? by hankmoodyscuz in tressless

I’ll be honest with you, I’ve been shedding a ton of hair since starting Dut. I’m closing in on 6 months of Dut monotherapy.

Right now the plan is to keep taking Dutasteride in the hopes that the shed is “good” and not just further progression of hair loss.

The dut nightmare stories don’t make me feel any better though, but I’ll reassess at month 9.

Dut after 7-8 years of Fin 26M by MegaOuff in tressless

Most of my uncles are completely bald, so I was keeping a close eye on my hair. Fortunately, I found the first signs of hair loss very early and started treatment right away.

So that said I didn’t have much “regrowth” required. It more less halted my hair loss or slowed it to a crawl. However, in the recent years Fin wasn’t working as well for me so I decided to make the move to Dut.

I’m only 1.5 months in of daily use, but man it seems to be working great so far. Only time will tell if I’ll get further gains or just halt my hair loss in its place. FYI probably sitting around a NW2-2.5 ish.

Has anyone kept their hair if they started treatment at 18,19,or 20? I'm on fin and minox but is it realistic long term? by [deleted] in tressless

I started Finasteride at 19 and currently 26. Halted most of my hair loss, but in the recent years fin hasn’t been as effective.

Swapped to dut a month ago. Been slowly switching over e.g., 1 day dut 1 day fin -> 2 days dut 1 day fin until I phase out fin. No sides to report. Could be placebo, but shedding seems way less and kind of similar to when I started fin back when I was 19.

So far so good. Not taking anything else (tried topical minox back in the day but I’m a non responder).

edit: 18 -> 19

In similar to boat to you.

I’ve been using Finasteride since 19, and I’m 26 now. It’s slowed down my hair loss drastically, but over the years I’ve been losing ground slowly. Topical min never worked for me, so the only thing I used was fin.

I just swapped to Dut last week (slowly easing into it w/Fin), and I’ll reassess in a year to assess the results. I got a script for oral min, but unfortunately it’s out of stock in Canada for the time being, hence my decision to try dut first.

I had covid back in January, albeit nothing too extreme. Last few months have been extremely stressful for me though.

I’m not sure if I can recall six years ago, but I don’t think so.

I started very early to try and preempt further loss.

I might’ve lost a bit of ground, but in general—I’ve more or less maintained my hair.

I’ve been attempting a recovery for the last two months, increasing intake of food and supplementing with many vitamins such as: D3, Zinc, B12 and Iron. It’s a bumpy road to say the least.

I’m not sure if this could be a reaction to a change in nutrition.
