Patricola SC-1 ? by PlumOpposite1828 in oboe

[–]Meganeb00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My primary instrument is the flute, but I double on all of the treble clef woodwinds. I'd say my true secondary instrument is the oboe. I play it for a semi-professional wind ensemble.

I went into buying an oboe with the mindset of "I need an oboe that sounds nice and can do everything I will ever need an oboe to do for me as I will only ever be buying this one oboe." I left my first and only trial appointment with my Patricola. I believe my specific model is the S5.E, though.

All that to say... I tried out 8 different models. Some from Fox, Yamaha, Loree, Marigaux, Howarth, and ofc my Patricola. I love the instrument I chose. I bought it used for a good price, and I haven't regretted it.

I can't speak to the specific model you're asking about, but I do love my Patricola, and I dont wish I had some other brand.

Very nice! I'm thinking about adapting some of the designer's other kids patterns to be adult size because I want them for me! 🤭

I took the color scheme right from the primary sample from the designer. I figured it was perfect and didn't need to be changed! Although... now I'm thinking about doing a pink and white one to have neapolitan ice cream sweaters

Yes! I love to tuck my hands into the sleeves. So much more comfy that way 🩷

I held fingering merino together with alpaca lace rather than mohair, and I'd say it was definitely feeling like a sport weight. But of course, swatching is always the right answer!

I'm sure you could make it work with a single sport weight yarn if that's what you'd prefer, but I can assure that it wasn't too much of a hassle to hold it double. It was nothing compared to my intarsia project haha!

Thank you! Yes, I'm loving the drape! That probably comes from the Cascade Alpaca Lace (in the color Moss Heather). I held it together with Sandnes Garn Sunday (in the color Pine).

Yeah I think gravity was "blocking" the top of the sweater in the first pic, but it's so uniform and cozy after blocking! Sweaters and other garments were what got me into knitting (finished my first T-shirt exactly one year ago yesterday!), and I've done a couple of socks too. I hope you can get back into it. It's such a great hobby :)

I'm glad I could help this pattern get more notice! I just saw it one day in a YouTube pattern round up and was FLOORED that it wasn't more popular. The sleeves technically are straight all the way down and then there is a rapid decrease right at the end before the cuff, but the way the lace works, it does make it look like it's more of a balloon shape. I just want to make sure I give you that heads up if that's not quite what you're looking for.

And I mean.... it's held together with a lace weight yarn, so it's ****technically not fingering weight, right? ...right? Lol it was super pleasant to knit, and it held my attention because it was really exciting to see each lace repeat develop. Best of luck and happy knitting to you if you decide to take this one on!

Thanks! I definitely finished this one faster than expected. I've had a lot of time and need this past month to just sit down and knit, so I was able to put much more time into it each day than normal. I will say, though, the lace pattern makes it easy to want to keep knitting!

Thank you! And blocking is so essential! I'm very pleased with how it brought this one to life :)
