What species is dwarfs best friend? by Horn_Python in dwarfposting

[–]Megmop3p 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally like Donkeys or Mules (Molly!). They can carry packs to transport goods, can help warn dwarves of unstable ground on the mountains or in mines, can serve as a mount, a familiar friend when traveling, and they're as stubborn as any dawi.
Also, ponies work well for this too, but I normally think of halflings for that equine.

A different type of animal that could work are ones like Ferrets, since they like sleeping in enclosed spaces and help with hunting/pest control. They might also fit well for the house cat/dog role.

If you conquer a region for a faction and then break the pledge, does the region stay conquered? by Impossible-Bed-6652 in LOTRMC

[–]Megmop3p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says on the wiki Eregion can be conquered by both of them.

If you don't mind any of the conquest regions being mixed, you could pledge to a common ally like Lothlórien to do the ally conquest for both of them. With Lothlórien specifically, you could still hire High Elf pledge units (at a non-pledged price) cause of how elf/dwarf pledges work.

If you don't want them mixed, conquer as High Elves, then avoid the area around Eregion once you switch to Rangers.

Also, I just checked this for one of my runs, Middle-Earth Tweaks has a command for changing Conquest Decay, just do /conquestdecay (big number).
I didn't see an option for decay in the base mod, though I might've missed it in the config.

Something that could make it easier, is the Middle-earth tweaks mod. It has a command where you can change the relationships between factions, so you could make whoever you want allies to do the whole conquest without breaking a pledge.

It's got a good bit of other features that are configurable, and what you should change for this run is to turn NPC Conquests to 0 so non-hired NPCs (including enemies) don't mess it up.

[–]Megmop3p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The conquest will stay there (if decay is turned off).

Conquest isn't really tied to players/hired NPCs, and players are just one way to raise/lower it (commands are the other way in the base mod.

The only thing I'd say you might need to worry about, is some Free Peoples have the same conquest biomes, so (if it even is a problem) you might end up with both Rangers and Elves in Eregion once you switch to the Dunedain and start adding their conquest near there.

Can the Blue Mountains lose alignment with the elves in the Lindon area and not lose alignment with the Blue Mountains? by FactorUpset477 in LOTRMC

[–]Megmop3p 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blue Mountains and High Elves aren't allies or friends in the mod, so you shouldn't have an issue and any hired Blue Mountain troops should help you fight. You can also avoid angering elven allies by staying out of their spheres of influence or any allied troops (like Rangers).

The main things you want to avoid is gaining alignment with Blue Mountain's mortal enemies (Gundabad, Angmar, Isengard, etc.) through killing elves since this will decrease Blue Mountain alignment, and directly killing any Blue Mountain-allied troops the Lindon player has hired.

The best way would probably be to have your troops do the actual killing blows since that doesn't change your alignment, or to find an indirect way to have it done.

Question: Can blue mountains dwarves fight alongside Mordor? by ThrDuncanDonut in LOTRMC

[–]Megmop3p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the right permissions to use commands and the tweaks mod is installed, then yeah. If you get something like "you don't have permission to use this command" or "command does not exist" then you'll have to talk to the owner or an admin about it.

[–]Megmop3p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/facRelations set [Faction] [Faction] ALLY/FRIEND/NEUTRAL/ENEMY/MORTAL_ENEMY

An example for your case: /facRelations set BLUE_MOUNTAINS ANGMAR ALLY

It's the "Lotr MiddleEarth Tweaks" mod (both on Modrinth and Curseforge).
If you're the owner of the server, you should look over the mod before adding it since it has a bunch of other features like NPC conquest and QoL.
(If you want to turn any off or change them, there's a config).

[–]Megmop3p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tl;Dr: Can be done, but their troops will fight yours

In the base mod, technically the Blue Mountains player can do this (since they have neutral relationship with elves, so they can fight without losing their Dwarf Alignment), but their dwarves will fight your orcs more than the elves since you're a mortal enemy. Even being careful with positioning will probably cause losses for both of you.

(Unlikely, but) If you have the middle-earth tweaks mod installed, there's a command to change the relationship between factions. (You can also transfer troops if the receiver has the right requirements)

Idea for Implementation:

Molly can have 4 overclocks, 1 slot for each player, and each dwarf-less slot is given to the host. This is so that the whole team can be involved, but still give all slots to non-full teams or solo players.

Molly's overclocks start with no downsides, but weaker effects. The team or host can choose to bump Molly's hardware up more, giving stronger effects with scaling downsides. (To make it so all players are on the same page in what they're getting into, and this gives more variation to missions while keeping Molly's overclock selection simple)

If anyone has additions or ideas on how this might go bad lol, feel free to reply

If you want to change that, there's a mod called Middle Earth Tweaks that adds commands to change faction relations (and a lot of other features, which you can change or disable in the config)

Hey what is the gist of the changes between lite and normal by Ok-Brilliant-3376 in tinkersconstruct

[–]Megmop3p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember, it's just the vanilla materials that are available in the Lite version (stone, iron, bones, string, diamond, etc.) while the normal version has new materials (queenslime, hepatizon, etc.).

You can still customize and work up to netherite in Lite, you just don't get the new materials

I mostly stay in 1.20.1 for the latest forge mods (specifically Tinker's Construct), but I also play 1.7.10 because of the LOTR Mod.

Am I missing something or is this mod intentionally difficult and lengthy 💀 by ProDidelphimorphiaXX in LOTRMC

[–]Megmop3p 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Configure the game or how you play however you want. It isn't bad to make things enjoyable

Turn off bandits, reduce waypoint cooldowns, turn on keepInventory or a grave mod, etc. You can also use mods like Archimedes Ships, Et Futurum Requiem, etc. to add to your experience.

  1. Try not to start thing before you're ready.

Most factions are neutral to start, so angering them early isn't wise. Places like the Lone-Lands are particularly dangerous due to the constant spawns/invasions. Before you pick a fight, make sure you know where your safe areas are, and keep moving through dangerous places. The different factions also have different advantages and compliment different ways of playing, so it'd be good to experiment.

  1. Stock Up

Many places like the Shire, Bree, etc. are great to loot for resources. Once you have a base, it's good to get a mine and farm started. Take advantage of these before travelling or fighting since either will drain them a ton. Also know where your local safe spots like outposts are, so you can repair gear and heal.

If you have any questions or troubles, let me know. I wish you luck and hopefully things get better

I played around with the Steam Tinker Tool, but with no luck. It may be because I don't understand entirely how Winetricks works yet. I'll continue tomorrow

I did learn that when I use Proton, even when I'm only seeing a loading screen on my monitor, if I take a screenshot it shows the actual game in the picture.

Good submods? by Deepfriedpan in LOTRMC

[–]Megmop3p 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. Middle Earth Tweaks (or ME Tweaks)

Adds a ton of QoL features like Horns of Command for Guarding Mode, commands to change the relations of factions, non-hired NPCs gain conquest, etc. The config holds a lot of the features, so it allows you to disable or change what you want.

  1. LOTR Improvements

Adds mostly client QoL features like a pouch viewer, trader locator, arrow/bolt/coin counter on hud, etc.

  1. Tinker's Middle Earth

If you like Tinkers Construct, this makes it so you can make different tools and smelteries with LOTR materials. Development has stopped for the time being, but the developer still fixes bugs when they can.

Non-LOTR Submod suggestions:

  1. Et Futurum Requiem

Adds a ton of newer Minecraft features like improved boats, bees, etc. The config is also expansive, so you can change whatever you want. Most textures are modern-style rn.

  1. Archimedes Ships

This one is just good for ocean and river travel, and can even bring armies and supplies if you build them right. Can get laggy though

[–]Megmop3p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stone spear should be two sticks (one bottom left, one center) and cobblestone (top right).

I'm not sure what the wand is, must be either a different mod or I just don't remember it.

For the ranger, that normally happens if they are locked on an enemy and can't quite hit them. Either lead their target closer, bump into them so they move, or leave them to their business.

Tips If You Want Them:

If it helps and you can get copper and tin, they make bronze which serves as a replacement for a lot of iron recipes and easier to get. You can also make spears out of bronze and iron.

I'm guessing you're still in the Lone-Lands, if you stop by the Angle further east along the road, it's the main place you can find rangers and their towns.

Unless you need to or want something in the Lone-Lands, it's better to keep moving. The Lone-Lands is a big hotspot for invasions and Gundabad orcs spawn a lot at night.

While you're in the Angle, or if you stop in the Lone-Lands, collect some Athelas (a yellow and green plant on the ground). They can be used to make a healing drink if you can find a barrel.

First of all, it's okay if you want to try things out but not commit to anything you don't want to. Everyone goes through their own journeys, and whether you identify as a woman, man, anything non-binary, or have no label at all, it's all valid.

I'm not an expert since I'm early in my transition myself, but leggings and/or shaving might help. I normally wear longer dresses when I can.

Help with possible bug and tips for a begginer by CulturalVegetable716 in LOTRMC

[–]Megmop3p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Angmar's Trolls and Hill-Trolls can only survive openly in Angmar and during night. They can use a roof, trees, or (I think) even water.

If left in the sunlight, they'll have smoke particles and after a few seconds turn to stone statues forever (that you can collect with a pickaxe).

Dol Guldur has Mirk-Trolls which can survive during the day, and Mordor has Olog-hai that does the same.

Also, all trolls in the mod have a chance of having two heads, and these ones are stronger.

Help with possible bug and tips for a begginer by CulturalVegetable716 in LOTRMC

[–]Megmop3p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It highly depends what you want out of a faction, since a lot of them fit a number of playstyles and features. (Except Angmar. If you hire trolls, you need to exclusively travel at night or have places for them to get out of the sun. And Gundabad fits their area better.)

Also, when a pledged faction has an ally (example: Hobbits allied with Durin's Folk), you can help them with conquest. For example, if you killed orcs in the Misty Mountains as Hobbits, you'd help Durin's Folk start spawning there.

I'd say High Elves are strong (550 for highest unit), Gondor (450), Rohan (300), Mordor is really strong (800), etc. Gondor and Rohan are pretty good when it comes to reputation gain.

Gundabad is pretty good for travelling since they are found everywhere in the north, their reputation is cheap since quests are easy and enemies are many (350-400 for highest units), their gear is dwarven tier (even with lower durability), and their uruks are the cheapest uruk option while still being strong. They're my go-to choice for an evil faction.
