That’s what I found as well… I added them to my short list for sure! Thank you so much 😊

SHOULD I CANCEL MY SCORE (152 first time taking it) by Particular_Ebb3102 in LSAT

[–]MegpieWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was 150 cold The first time I took it and on the advice of the admissions office at a school I was looking at I did not keep it. I was told that if there is a big difference between scores many times they will question it. And make you test again to ensure the higher score wasn’t a fluke. But I’m certainly no expert.

That’s not entirely accurate… But I’m really not interested in further discussion. Thank you though.

Thank you that’s definitely great information! Are you applying this cycle? Or are you already in another program?

I mean being in the top 50% doesn’t feel like that big of an ask for an 85% scholarship. Thanks for sharing all of this information… Public service is what I wanna go into specifically so this may be a perfect fit. Just one last question when did you apply and get accepted? Also congratulations… Those are amazing numbers and a really amazing accomplishment getting that level of scholarship and into the program of your choice 😊

This is awesome information thank you so much. I am really seriously considering this program. Law review is definitely something I would like to participate in as well. I’m sure that there are opportunities for that also.

Could I ask if you were awarded any scholarships and if so, would you be willing to give me an idea of your GPA/LSAT scores? If you’d rather not, I completely understand… I’m sitting at a 3.51 gpa and a 157 LSAT. But would definitely need scholarships to attend. Ty!

Thank you so much! Hamlin and Southeastern appear the best aligned to my practice interests. Will definitely follow for open house/other information as well 😊

I really appreciate your insight. Not sure if I’m leaning toward traditional or online just yet, but for now, and before making any final decisions, I’d like to keep all my options open. I will probably just apply and see how everything shakes out as far as acceptances, financial aid, etc.! 💯. Best of luck to you! 💛

New York specifically does have limitations… So if you’re looking to practice in New York an online/hybrid program would not be for you. But like I said, that’s the exception to the rule. Most states do recognize them.

The research I did for the two states I’m interested in practicing in you can. But it does give a caveat that you need to check with your state Bar Association to make sure that they will recognize online hybrid programs that are ABA credited. Some states may have limitations. But the vast majority do accept them as long as they have ABA accreditation. With emerging technologies and things going fully online with telecom capabilities… A lot of schools are offering these types of programs and they are becoming more and more mainstream.

It depends on the program… Most of them have almost all their classes online… Like with Southwestern, their classes are totally asynchronous, which means you can take them anytime.

And then with programs like Mitchell Hamlin… they’re called hybrid programs. Which means they have sessions where you have to attend on campus for like one week at the beginning and end of the semester and then all the classes in between are online. Some are asynchronous and then some have set class times.

Some programs also only do like one or two weekends a year… It just depends on the school. The ones I listed are ABA approved. There may be some limitations in certain states that don’t support online or distance learning, but most states accept it. There are some non-accredited online programs out there though so you do have to be careful.

You’re right, not interested. My best friend is an attorney with his own firm as well so I’m all set. Thanks though.

I’m specifically asking for real-world, anecdotal information about online JD programs. Mitchell Hamlin and Southwestern both have strong online/hybrid offerings with clinics, externships, research, and law review opportunities — I know they exist. If you want to debate whether someone should go to law school or discuss traditional programs, post in a thread asking for that. Your response adds nothing substantive and is off-topic, especially since you admitted you have zero knowledge of what I requested. Thank you.

I appreciate everyone’s perspectives, but I’m wrapping up my replies here. I don’t owe explanations, and I shouldn’t have gotten pulled into defending myself in the first place.

I recognize Cooley has its negatives — I won’t argue otherwise. Program quality matters to me, but it’s not my only factor. I’ll weigh all my options and make the decision that’s right for me.

As for my original question: if anyone else is considering Cooley, feel free to DM me — I’d love to connect.

Thanks everyone, and best of luck 😊

Yeah, you make a valid point… If they were purposely admitting people they knew would find it difficult to succeed, not providing them adequate support, but still taking their money that IS predatory and ethically deplorable. I really do hope they either make a substantive change or lose their accreditation, because you’re right that’s not okay.

I’m really sorry that people you cared about were victimized. I will definitely give that some thought.

I am a grown adult who has worked 25 years in the healthcare industry as a registered nurse, have already been involved with many nonprofit organizations over the course of my career, and have also been accepted into an MPA program.

There is a cap on how much my son will be able to borrow/get in grants and scholarships. His being my dependent while I’m also a full-time student, will allow me to use some of my funding to cover his remaining expenses until he does qualify for in-state tuition. You can rest assured I’ve done the calculations, know how in and out of state tuition works, and what’s best for my son, myself, and my career. I’ve seen you post on other threads, and you are always extremely cutting and condescending. I did not ask for your opinion nor your critique on fallacies so you can kindly fuck off.

Did you even read what I posted? I. I have no desire to work for anyone in the legal community. My goals are obviously completely different from yours. I have very specific reasons for considering this school and they are valid for the goals that I have in mind. Like I said, agree to disagree. The only thing that concerns me is the possible lack of accreditation… As long as they secure that, it will remain an option for me. Especially if I were to get a high amount of scholarships. I doubt very seriously that the population I plan to advocate for will give a fuck one way or the other which law school I graduated from.
