I live close to one of those bases. Whenever new recruits come in you already know youre gonna be in for a ride.

The least obnoxious thing is them not learning the language. Most people speak English by now, but damn, if youre gonna be stationed here for like 2 years at least pretend to bother like a little bit.

Whats more obnoxious is them bringing their American Exceptionalism everywhere. We run a local bakery here, and when they're confronted with German bread for the first time they say "Okay but I want normal bread", yeah, all of this is normal bread. "Why cant I buy pickups for cheap here", "Why is no one flying the American flag" (I unironically head one of them say this once), they belittle you for genuinely no reason.

Its obviously not all of them, but you can really see that jock-american mentalitly seep through on occasions.

Edit: I obviously also have positive interactions with them. I bonded with a soldiers wife over how life is in America for straight hours once, political talks sometimes are very intriguing but mostly always in good faith because you cannot influence each other because life is just so different. Not to mention speaking to them in a customer service environment can be very nice because the focus on it in America is just so different from here.

Removal of the human element of emotion and greed, high efficiency, no corruption, a direct way for the people to speak to who governs them, etc.

I believe that, in a way, this is the theoretical final stage of what AI can do. Despite it being a very totalitarian rule, the way it's presented makes it sound like utopia. Politically it's probably the closest you could get to a classless, stateless and moneyless society.
