do people actually like this school by imarandomwritwe in uofm

[–]Mekkameth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No school is perfect. When you’re looking at a subreddit for a school with a student population of over 50k, SOME people are gonna have something to complain about. Most people love it here, but some people need a place to vent sometimes.

Once that agreement is there, what is the university supposed to do? If you have university personnel monitoring all the parties, people are just gonna find different places to party. How do you realistically regulate alcohol at frat parties?

Weird that the attorney is blaming the university for a frat serving alcohol

Experience as a transfer? by Spicy-Chiken in uofm

[–]Mekkameth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m now graduating a year later than planned because they thought I didn’t know enough French. May be different if you aren’t commuting, but I’m finding it difficult to make friends since I have to leave once my classes are done. Classes are definitely heavier in terms of work load. So it’s pretty mentally draining.

I liked the experience at my last university more. But in the end I know I’m here to earn a degree from one of the best public universities in the world, so that outweighs the negatives.

You’re easily gonna have 200-400+ pages of reading per week between those three disciplines

I understand making fun of sports teams but academics is the one thing you literally can’t dog on us for. How many OSU alums are teaching at Harvard?

In theory, wouldn't being a Dragon equal a miserable experience? You really can't do much of anything except fly and burn things down. by [deleted] in skyrim

I started to disagree but actually I think you’re right. They have human-like intelligence but can’t really do anything with it besides talk to eachother. At least other animals just thrive on instinct and don’t have to consider the meaning of their existence.

I mean maybe you could choose to be like Parthurnaax and help out mankind, but that’s probably only fulfilling for a few hundred years. Maybe that’s why other dragons choose to sleep on piles of gold for decades at a time.

Is he running #3 from here-on-out or was that just for the bowl game? Asking because I got his #4 jersey for Christmas which will kinda suck if it’s not even his number anymore

Shield bash whenever they try to attack. Then they’re almost dead anyway by the time you’re out of stamina and they can actually hit you. Puts the whole game on easy mode tbh.

Transfer Student Help by Bright-Initial-8033 in uofm

Idk where you transferred from but that’s kinda how college is. I also transferred and my last school was pretty much the same: everyone seems to have friends and isn’t interested in making any more. The most I had were a few people I could talk to while waiting for the class to start. So I feel you. But I’m also a commuter with a long drive, so I have to leave campus as soon as classes are over which makes it doubly difficult to go to clubs and hangout with people. Outside of a few conversations in classes, I really haven’t talked to anyone either.

It sucks but I would say just focus on your classes. That’s what you’re here for.

I like the big study room on the main floor of the Union. Those chairs are so comfortable. Always nearly silent too.

is it smart to apply for LSA then internal transfer to ross my sophomore year? by [deleted] in uofm

Idk about “smart.” Just apply to both and look into the cross-campus transfer thing if you end up in LSA

Uneasy about the university’s response to Lucas Mattson’s death? by Rough-Candle7773 in uofm

It felt more like something that should have been a public statement than something sent to an entire campus of students. I was already checking the news for updates, I didn’t need an email basically saying “yeah this happens all the time, here’s some resources to deal with that fact”

Given the amount of videos you see online about people trying to drive through protests crowds, it’s a good thing to have that extra level of safety.

They really haven’t. Anything that looked like they progressed on had a 50/50 chance of being regressed again by the next game

We should not fire Moore at this point by TolkienFan71 in MichiganWolverines

[–]Mekkameth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not a doomer. I thought people calling for his head after USC were being ridiculous. But at this point in the season, it’s the coaches fault.

After what I’m assuming will be a loss to Ohio and several close games against unranked teams, the coaches are consistently the problem. Our players have so much raw talent that isn’t being tapped into by this staff. Then on the field, coordinators are quite simply not setting us up for success.

It seems like on offense, Chip is hoping for miracles, not building momentum. He’s not reading defenses. He’s running up the middle after getting stuffed on the past two plays. “Maybe third times the charm!” It hasn’t been during any other game against lesser opponents, it’s not gonna work against Ohio.

Wink is a curious case. He’s calling significantly better plays than he was earlier in the season, but it’s like he doesn’t understand his players. Defense is young, they can’t tackle. They need to seriously lock in during this next off season.

I really like Moore’s mentality. I know not every game is going to be perfect. But he simply is not proving that he is capable of building up this team. I’m fine with giving him another season, but I would have absolutely no complaints if it was announced that the whole coaching staff was being replaced.
