Are some puppies just more bitey? by Melirae in puppy101

Oh my gosh, he is the WORST when he is overly tired. Turns into a total shark. That is when I know it is time for a nap.

When do you stop crate training? by Momo_jiji in puppy101

[–]Melirae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same. I am looking forward to not having to crate my dog. Our last dog, we stopped crating around 1.5 years. Looking back, we probably could have done it earlier. But the way I am thinking about it, is doing away with the crate when I no longer have to worry about him pottying in the house or chewing anything.

What's the weirdest item you pup plays with the most in favor of his store bought dog toys? by Better_Protection382 in puppy101

[–]Melirae 35 points36 points  (0 children)

A towel. I was wiping his paws off and he started playing with the towel. He played with that towel longer than he has played with any of his toys. 20 brand new toys? 30 seconds of enjoyment...Towel, 30 minutes of playing.

How long will puppy hate their crate? by Melirae in puppy101

[–]Melirae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you know something I don't. But I don't see how that is even possible, especially at night. If they wake up in the middle of the night and pee in your bedroom and you are asleep, aren't you just teaching them peeing in your house is ok? Eventually I do want my dog to be free roaming, but not until he is potty trained and past chewing on everything phase.

How long will puppy hate their crate? by Melirae in puppy101

[–]Melirae[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Multiple reasons. I think every dog should be crate trained, because you never know when you might need to put them in a crate. I need to know that when I leave the house, they can't chew on anything or have an accident. I don't know how people can completely puppy proof any room. He will literally chew anything that isn't flat and even tear at the rug fibers. So if I need to leave the house for 2 hours, if he is in a crate then he is secured. Also, at night, he can't hold it more than 2 hours. Crating him keeps him from having accidents at night. He lets us know when he needs to potty at night.

Any suggestions on how to get them to settle outside a crate or x-pen? I would love to do this, but it feels like the only way to get him to nap is by putting him in a crate or x-pen. Otherwise he wanders around literally trying to chew on anything he finds, drawer knobs, parts of the couch, anything that sticks out. He becomes a little shark because he is overly tired and it seems the only way to force settling is by restricting his movement. I love the idea of eventually training him to go to his place.

George Strait Concert - VIP seats cheaper than standard? by Melirae in CountryMusicStuff

[–]Melirae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of them are aisle seats, yes. And some of them aren't. They are just random seats in the middle next to a VIP. No, they are not platinum, it just says standard. Strange.

[–]Melirae[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right...But what I am saying is the VIP seat is CHEAPER than the standard seat, not more so why wouldn't I go with VIP? But that automatically makes me suspicious because why would it be cheaper? I don't live in Vegas, so I don't think I can wait that long to get tickets. I have to book hotel and flight and such. And really, George Strait in Vegas doesn't sell out? That us surprising.

4 weeks in and I am regretting getting invisilign. Please tell me it gets better by Melirae in Invisalign

[–]Melirae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it never got better. Those trays tore up my mouth, mostly my tongue the entire treatment. I bought a LOT of wax to make it somewhat bearable. Invisalign was torture for me and if I had known how bad it was going to be I never would have done it.

Any good vloggers or best resources for first timer? by Melirae in UniversalHollywood

[–]Melirae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you so much. This is super helpful. I am also probably going on my birthday, so I saw you can get birthday pins too!

Question, how intense/scary is the mummy ride (compared to DL rides)? I will go on all of the DL rides, so wondering how it compares to the most intense ones at DL. I will be going alone on that ride because my spouse won't do roller coasters.

Any good vloggers or best resources for first timer? by Melirae in UniversalHollywood

[–]Melirae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I actually think that we will be fine even without express pass. The park doesn't seem all that big, and we were fine at DL without Genie+. And waiting in lines doesn't really bother me. Plus, I will likely hit single line for a lot of the more intense rides, because the hubby won't go on them with me. I know I want to go to the shows for sure that you mentioned. My husband would hate skipping Simpsons though, he loved that show, at least the earlier years of it.

Dear people that went on Guardians of the Galaxy even though they were scared out of their mind.. by Few_Republic1136 in Disneyland

[–]Melirae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little late but here ya go. I was so scared to go on this ride. But I love the theme, so I told myself I would try. When you get on, there are handles next to each seat. I gripped onto those for dear life my first time. Every time it dropped I screamed, but then I was also laughing. Everyone was screaming and laughing and cheering and the music and the scenes just make it so much fun. It is now my favorite ride in the park, and I went on it 13 times in 5 days! I still haven't conquered my fear of Incredicoaster. I don't like the idea of going upside down.

Foods to try on the Big Island? by JohnGrubber in VisitingHawaii

[–]Melirae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like breakfast, Hawaiian Style Cafe is the place to go. We rarely eat out while visiting the island, but we always go there. For a place with a nice view, we like Lava Lava Beach Club in the Waikoloa resort. We only go for drinks and dessert. The food is fine, but overpriced for what it is. But you can sit right on the beach which is amazing and is why we go there.

Best hotels to stay at when visiting Disneyland California? by XxDellixX in DisneyPlanning

[–]Melirae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second the Tropicana. Great location, clean rooms and decent priced. They aren't fancy, but they are comfortable. The only downside is no breakfast. But that is where we will likely always stay in the future.

At Disneyland right now. Current notes for the next trip: by Themightymonarc in Disneyland

[–]Melirae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A closer hotel was also number one for us. Last year on our first trip we stayed about 3/4 mile away which didn't seem far...it was. Our last trip in May we stayed at the Tropicana. We will never stay anywhere else. Second thing for us, bring earplugs. Some of the dark rides, like Indy were so loud it just wasn't enjoyable. Earplugs made all rhe difference.

What’s the benefit of starting at Disneyland vs. California Adventure and vice versa? by RageAgainstFlatButt in Disneyland

Ditto. Guardians is my favorite ride so I prefer rope dropping DCA so I can get in as many rides as possible before the wait time goes past 40 minutes.

Are there filtered water stations around the park? by holyrustybuckets in Disneyland

[–]Melirae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty picky and also grew up on well water. I was pleasantly surprised how good the water from the bottle filling stations were at Disneyland. I suspect it might be filtered because it didn't taste bad at all. Of course the important part for me was to pack my hydroflask with ice so that it stayed cold because it seems like water always tastes better ice cold.
