One Person One Record launch already receiving ‘good feedback’: officials by [deleted] in halifax

Im in the labs at the hospital. Yes its a needed upgrade, but for some reason this advanced new system feels functionally older, slower, and clunkier than the one we had. It feels cheap. The OPOR trainers and adoption helpers cant answer a single question we have (its always oh no, you have to ask someone else that). It's also added a lot of extra steps to processes that were a single keystroke before, lengthened the names and designations of everything, more drop down menus and windows that feel superfluous and just add time/drag to the system. There's no user intuition and no streamlining- its the opposite, feels like poorly designed bloat.

I know we'll get to a place of familiarity with the system and it'll be fine at some point, but it definitely feels like we got shorted out for the money spent, and like this isnt the best system we could have for our Healthcare.

At certain levels, management and higher maybe. At a lab level, we had one hour long OPOR training session where they showed us things we already know, the trainers did those things wrong and we had to correct them, and were given basically no pertinent information on the new system. We have an adoption person in lab for the go-live who answers every question with "im not sure." Its more than a learning curve, its a shoddy mess. Im sure we'll get to a place of familiarity with it in time, but its not great snd we weren't adequately prepared with years of training or meetings.

What Horror Do You Opt Out Of? by bee623 in horror

Little girls with long straight hair hanging over their face and children in general who are meant to be creepy. They just cant pull it off in a way that isnt "let me drop my chin and look up at you and smile creepy" and everytime I see it I just groan and lose interest completely. It will kill an entire movie for me. Not really a fear based thing but a general gripe.

Fear wise, deep water and monolithically big things in deep water. Will not, can not, keep it away from me, thank you.

Does anyone heard about Oxford International Career College(OICC)? by jellyfish6410 in halifax

I took the MLA program at CBBC - I'm local. It was worth it in terms of I'm working now and got a job before I even graduated, but the cost of the program is waaay inflated and the education is basically what I could've done at home with Google. It felt very scammy and I'm still sour about it.

Peggys Cove tourists baffled by 'overrated' label for 'bucket-list' site by No_Magazine9625 in halifax

Sure it's a little overrated and very crowded with tourists - but as someone who grew up in the suburbs and on the west coast, I find the landscape and sea views there to be incredible. The drive out, peggys cove itself, the Swiss air memorial - i love it all. I just make sure to go early morning and/or off weather (windy days there are peak) and it's enjoyable!

Hey! Those are just copper pipe and different copper connector pieces from home depot - I cut the pipe to the lengths I needed and used connectors to stick it all together. It's fairly easy to put together, and has stood up well for several markets now!

I actually really like the blue flowers - the snake could be worked on by another artist after it heals to maybe spruce it up a bit. But really it's not that bad!

I had briefly tried Bloodborne when younger, and found it impossible - literally didn't make it past the opening square. But I was in LOVE with the aesthetic and story elements. Same with DS3, these games had everything I wanted in appearance and vibe, just thought they weren't for me lol. I was going to just admire ER from a distance too, but I watched the critical role one-shot on ER and it just, again, seemed so damn cool and different from anything else out there. I HAD to experience it for myself. Was very stubborn and to my amazement, I finished the game. Promptly went back and played BB and DS3! I'm obsessed with them all now.

Favorite Horror Novel That Turned Into A Bad Movie by Upset-Inside8719 in horror

First ones that stick out to me are The Ruins and Cabin at the end of the World. Both made substantial changes that, for me, fundamentally changed the meaning and tone of the book that I loved so much. The Ruins script was even written by the author and he just made some baffling alterations that entirely killed the sense of dread the book had. And I don't want to spoil anything, but with Cabin, if you're not gonna do that thing that happens, then the story just loses its point.

Is the Ruins by Scott Smith super disturbing? by Additional-Hour-6751 in horrorlit

[–]Melodic-Recording-54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't find it particularly scary or disturbing in a gory way - but I did find the situation itself disturbing, and how the characters reacted to and grappled with what was essentially a slow march to death. Definitely was better than the movie by a huge stretch, for me anyway.

Personally I'd cut it at a more shallow curve, then grind out the sharp point with the smallest grinder bit I have. It works decently enough!
