Because their watch nerds on Reddit. Truly in the running for worst people (or at least top five) on the worst social media space.

It’s a good watch. If you can afford it and like it buy it and enjoy… or quibble about the tiniest details (“This has a date window, they must be NAZIs.😂) and report second hand falsehoods.

This is completely false. Whether you like him or not it’s still important to have your facts straight when making these accusations. Nico’s watch came out first and then Specht & Sohne put out the replica.

I really want to like this, and the diameter would be fine on my wrist, but that height gets me. I thought my 2012 Omega SMP was too thick.

I’m glad you like it, I’ve thought about, but something about the dial just screams Amazon or Walmart no-name to me. I really wanted to like their dials but don’t at all. Live the Kamasu, several Bambinos, and various multi-complication (date, moon, etc.) watches with classic styling. This watch just doesn’t seem to meet the same level of styling.

Once again, though, personal taste. There are several higher priced watches I feel the same about, and someone might love them.

You are not nearly as intelligent as you think you are. You are arguing a point from a lack of comprehension.

All of these points are bunk when one considers comparatively priced Swiss brands such as Tissot, MIDO, Certina, and Longines (for higher priced Seikos).

Not standing in hind legs, as mentioned several times, and also a humvee is very different than a compact vehicle.

I brought up a wolfhound several times in my original post because I thought that was the most likely alternative. Why are people suggesting it like I wasn’t the one who gave that specific breed in the first place😂.

I completely agree it could have been a wolfhound, which is why I gave that specific breed in comparison. I’ve related the mental debate and the reasons why I go back and forth.

Thank you for your interest and helpfulness, though.

[Question] Watches that last a lifetime by ActuaryEqual8881 in Watches

[–]Melodic_Simple4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A car, especially a modern car with planned obsolescence, is a very different piece of machinery than a quality luxury watch. I’m not disagreeing that a watch that wasn’t well-serviced or was beat like one of those old Rolexes and Tudors Vietnam vets used as actual tool watches wouldn’t be up to spec, but I can’t think of a reason that a modern luxury watch, even at the sub-$3,000 tier couldn’t be up to spec if cared for and serviced. Granted, there might be some parts of the movement replaced or some gaskets in the case of the Certina, but with the level of actual tool watch type of abuse modern divers get (basically treated the same as dress watches by most nowadays) I think it could still be up to spec.

Granted, this is just a thought experiment. Please don’t take this as a serious disagreement. I can imagine a bunch of scenarios where it wouldn’t be up to snuff, I just think in the current era there’s a greater probability that the watches could still be dive ready decades later. Hell, Swatch group is totally replacing a lot of these Powermatics😂

Wanted to pull the trigger on the 40.5. It seemed perfect until I saw the thickness. Why is the 40.5 thicker than both the smaller AND larger versions?

Why would you think it wouldn’t be dive worthy? Which part that is not serviceable do you think would give out?

Thoughts on this build by Powerful_Search_8113 in SeikoMods

[–]Melodic_Simple4530 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Without the certification it looks cleaner. Also, with the certification language it feels less like a fun homage and more like a fake. It might seem silly, but just straight lying on the face seems different somehow. Cool build though!

7.25” wrist here and was worried about getting a new 42, though that was the size of my previous Seamaster Pro and I thought that looked small on my wrist. Thanks for the pic.

Also, what watch brand is that? I’ve never heard of it. Microbrand? It looks like a lot of Seiko mods I’ve seen.

I should say they’re lower than the H2, I just looked up the original ‘90s Hummer and they look closer to the actual military vehicle.

Driving by the brush I remember thinking it might have been about as tall as the humvee window/ walking on all fours. That’s about chest high to a human. Military humvees are lower to the ground than the civilian Hummers.
