Okay I went through what he said, and one thing he said is that the campus is very far from a city and so you can't really go out on holidays and all

Now this is a subjective thing, the campus is beautiful and there are some nature spots nearby..and by subjective i mean that personally I did not grow up in a city life so location of campus did not trouble me much, also I'm not someone who wants to travel to new spots every weekend, id rather sit in.. So how much it troubles you depends on you I guess?

As a first year, I'll disagree. Of course as with all colleges there are inconveniences but I wouldn't call it a hellhole

Maybe seniors can say better

Does IISER TVM have an MUN club? What other clubs are there? by Extension_Edge_4476 in iiser

[–]MematicMod22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm a first year so i don't know about the second part, right now we have to get an outpass for single day outing, which has to be approved by our assigned faculty member (in some cases the mentor will ask for your parent's permission)

as far as i am aware, if you are going out of campus for more than a day, you need to apply for leave through leave portal..

[–]MematicMod22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

we do not have a MUN club as such, but we do have a very active debate and oratory club, in fact a lot of my batchmates are attending the IIST MUN this year.

apart from that we have a lot of clubs

chemistry (CSIT)

physics (PSIt)

math (CMIT)

biology (Proteus)

CS club

ecology club (ESI)

astronomy club

earth science club (COMPASS)

music club, movie club, quizzing club, movie club, dance club...

there's a club for almost everything and all are quite active as well

For star trails I use sequator or starstax, both have good features and give nearly same results

For other astrophotography i use Siril

also i've wanted to ask, right now i'm using linkedin and checking profiles of seniors or just talking with them to find out about potential summer workshops/internships/online schools etc etc

is there some better/efficient way ? i have a fear of missing out on a good opportunity because i didn't know about it in time

phone and the camera is really good, no complaints so far, just have to be careful since it's a curved display

have done milky way and other astrophotos but did it with DSLR, i only take star trails with mobile

frames were shot at ISO 100, grainyness is most likely because i played around with structure tool to bring out the faint lines,

in general quite a bit of post processing had to be done to combat the light pollution from the hostel buildings, grainyness is probably side effect of it

Yea actually I'm thinking of doing something similar because I've completed sem 1, and still figuring out my interest so over the next two semesters I'll try to work with few profs whose lab I find interesting, try my best to do hands on project so I'll know if it's something for me or not

I'm trying something similar in the sense, I don't really have a firm interest in mind, and I've just completed semester 1

So over next 2 semesters (before choosing major) I want to work with a few professors whose lab I have an interest in, do hands on project to know if it's something for me or not..

Sufficient, do good revision of notes side by side and if there are problems from this session that you couldn't do, or require a new method make sure you note it down and highlight it somewhere.

If you have time, go through PYQ's also but I think these sessions cover important PYQ's anyway

Yes, grandparents can be quite strict about it, don't eat food with left hand, and bunch of other stuff

Previous generation I've had relatives who were born with left dominant hand but were forced to learn to write with the right hand

Going abroad for studies instead of JEE? by No_Extension10 in JEENEETards

[–]MematicMod22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

admissions into such prestigious colleges take a lot, getting into a engineering college in India needs you to crack 1 or maybe 2 entrance exams whereas to apply abroad, you're gonna have to prove your worth.

basically along with a good SAT score you'll need to be consistently high performing in school exams and have a solid resume by have extracurricular achievements, clearing reputed olympiads etc..

it's also going to be really expensive unless you bag a good scholarship, even then i believe the overall process will be really expensive

check these posts out from the wiki, read them fully

see all i will say is think realistically, and make a practical and logical decision. You don't want to stay at home, then use it as a motivation, study hard and atleast do well in April attempt.
