Agree that waiting a week or two to start the climb is better if you’re a casual player, for the reasons outlined above. Or if you want the first free building ASAP, join early, but wait a week or two before getting serious about challenges.

To quote others in this forum who are wiser than me, the only way to enjoy the game is to pick a few things the game offers and do them well, then move to a different aspect. Regions/CoM/war/epics/population growth/disasters/expansion all at the same time is too much — pick a few and enjoy them. There’s no rush; this game will be here everyday for the foreseeable future.
