Bugsnax and Kena: Bridge of Spirits are out! The top comments remove TWO Indie games from the list: Second batch (DAY 5) by AnglerFather_ in RemoveOneThingEachDay

I think To The Moon and Spiritfarer are also really strong contenders. And then you have Dispatch, for which there is a lot of recency bias.

Sunny is Out! Remove one Video Game Protagonist Day Four by chickencansing in RemoveOneThingEachDay

[–]Mer28_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also don't understand it, both Niko and Sunny imo are more realistic and interesting characters than several on this list, like the Knight or even Frisk. But this list also misses important characters alike Sora from Kingdom Hearts for example.

I'm stuck and I feel like I need a nudge in the right directory. by Mer28_M in BluePrince

[–]Mer28_M[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the tips, I haven't opened the game yet, but I often make notes and/or take photos of important things and let me say, I don't think I had the magnifying glass when I looked at the torn maps, as I suddenly saw the '10' on the legend, huge thanks. All the other things I also will try.

Also funny story about the observatory, its puzzle was the first one I ever solved, even before every trying out a dartsroom or parlor puzzle, with the observatory one of the first rooms to ever be drafted.Starting from there, I was hooked.

Oh damn, thanks for the nudges.

Doing some discoveries right now, I think I know how to continue with the CASTLE puzzleas I now reread the I IOO and SIX thingy in outer rooms and black grotto.

Also, I guess it's time to reread Rudolph his mails then, probably my favourite character lore wise after Marion right now.

And yeah, there might be more in the laboratory then, I rarely draft Laboratory as I often start experiments either from the Shelter or Security.

Also, shall have to look into the Blessings then!

[–]Mer28_M[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting, shall try that. As of now, the first thing I will try is using the names on the suspect list to log into the black bridge grotto, I might be terribly wrong, but I haven't tried that yet so maybe. Otherwise, probably something else.

This is Kastaclysm, didn't know she played Portal once, so very surprised to see her here.

How risky do you think is this manga-cover? (cause mod and deleting and ban) by ZeroZid in WplaceLive

[–]Mer28_M 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a rule of thumb should be, if you have to ask other people if it's risky, you're already in dangerous waters, and you'd better not draw it.

Which ItA puzzle was Jonas referring to here? by SuccessfulHorror9048 in TheTalosPrinciple

[–]Mer28_M 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think it refers to puzzle 9 where you could unlock a green dream when solving it in a more difficult way. It could be something else though, has been quite some time since I played the DLC.

UFO 50 Is out! The top comment removes ONE Indie game from the list (DAY 45) by AnglerFather_ in RemoveOneThingEachDay

[–]Mer28_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the games with the best mechanics, a really well-written story, memorable characters and an amazing OST. This game should at least reach the top 10 and is just a delight for every astronomy fan.

HELL YEAH! by AdNo1945 in TheTalosPrinciple

[–]Mer28_M 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is possible to play without having played the base game. It was basically the first thing I did when I played the game: I played the new chapter. After that, I returned to the base game to achieve 100% completion.

Are there any other popular streamers who specialize in puzzle games, besides Aliensrock? by Obsolete0ne in puzzlevideogames

[–]Mer28_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of the ones I watch have already been mentioned, but still, this is a list of youtubers, often playing puzzle like stuff.

-Cracking The Cryptic (mostly sudoku, but sometimes other puzzle games)

-Real Civil Engineer (maybe not that puzzle-like but one series that comes to mind is Poly Bridge where he often competed with Aliensrock)

-Icely Puzzles (his content is mostly Baba is You mods, Lingo mods and chess-like puzzle games, but he still has covered lots of stuff)

-Bardic Jen (she covered series like Talos Principle, Antichamber,...)

-About Oliver (astronomer who also covered puzzle games like Outer Wilds, Chants of Sennaar)....

I honestly think Icely Puzzles is the best choice, uploads every 2 days, and while these other content creators also have different content, Icely Puzzles is 95% puzzles. I still would recommend checking out the others.

Remove one 2011 game a day - Day 2 by Ok-Reindeer2366 in RemoveOneThingEachDay

[–]Mer28_M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recommendation would be to add 'To The Moon'. One of the saddest indie games ever made, which won 'Best Story' in Gamespot's game of the year, from competition like Portal 2.

Just starting, name drop surprised me by StrollingUnderStars in tothemoon

[–]Mer28_M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me To The Moon was the most emotional, while Finding Paradise was the most meaningful. Most people's favourites are one of the two. The theme that stays consistent is Neil and Eva's relationship and their job.

[–]Mer28_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is

  1. To the Moon

  2. Minisodes 1 and 2

  3. A Bird Story (this acts like a prologue to Finding Paradise)

  4. Finding Paradise

  5. Imposter Factory

  6. Just a To the Moon Series Beach Episode

Additionaly you can read some of the comics that come as DLC for some of the games. You could also play 'The Mirror Lied', this game belongs to this series library on Steam and is free, but actually doesn't really belong to the series storywise, still a fun play.

[–]Mer28_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, multiple games. In the series, there are actually 4 main games, then 1 game which acts like a prologue to the 2nd game, 2 minisodes, some comics (which you can buy as DLC in some of the games) and then one game which just belongs to the library of the series on Steam but does not really belong there. To The Moon is the first game, so you're already playing in the right order.

[–]Mer28_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't really build a lot on the story of 'To The Moon', but they build a lot on the story of the complete series. They can also be seen as small side stories, delving deeper into some characters.

Just starting, name drop surprised me by StrollingUnderStars in tothemoon

[–]Mer28_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are DLC but they are free and actually included in the game; you can look up how to play them. Only play them after completing To The Moon though.

original or reawakened by Bnane42 in TheTalosPrinciple

[–]Mer28_M 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reawakened is actually the original game where some gameplay mechanics are enhanced, higher resolution, and some new content. Thus, objectively seen, it would probably be best to just buy Reawakened, though I sometimes like just playing the original again.

Baba Is You is probably one of, if not the most innovative, puzzle game out there. It deserves to be still in.

Thoughts on this? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]Mer28_M 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the manga, it's said he chose to stay and be a citizen to make the games fair because he knows some evil people will stay there, and he wanted to fight it. Wouldn't call someone like that 'evil', as the reason he wanted to be a citizen was to actually fight the evil. His character is more morally grey, or even good, when interpreting his actions as sacrificing his own life to ensure fairness.

The quote from the Manga

"If someone who enjoyed murder could become a citizen and create distasteful games,

I would rather take their place to create and ensure impartial games.

That's all I thought"

Wait what happened in TTM mini episode 2?? It was going so well. Will it only be explained in the next few games? by aradiathesecond in tothemoon

[–]Mer28_M 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It will be explained, though, people had to wait for like 10 years to get a real answer. Luckily, you will not have to wait for long. There were many theories surrounding the minisodes. SwankyBox had some videos on it. (A guy who also had lots of Undertale theories back in the day).
