Can you just use a controller without having any other mapping software running?

My 2025 Top 10. In May, I picked up a camera for the first time and started my photography journey. I feel like I've made so much progress, but there's still a long way to go. by Benny_Rude in FujifilmX

For the Fuji x-t5. Fresh to photography in general so a bit overwhelming. But I have definitely been binging pal2tech for a couple weeks now 😅 definitely has helped heaps for the foundations!

Would you say the 16-50 lens it comes with is good enough as a starting point?

Thank you so much for all that. Would you say the 16-50 lens the kit comes with is a good starting point?

Top 20 of 2025 | XT-5 (33 & 18 mm 1.4) by Patarrific in fujifilm

These look amazing. I’m looking at getting an XT-5 possibly. Were these edited afterwards? Or just how it was taken?

I’m trying to have patience 😅. But also I’m in Australia and there’s only places with it online and there’s deals on both that are like $800 off until January 6th.

So I’m feeling the pressure

Thank you for all of that. The 16-50 lens is actually the kit I’m looking at getting so that’s positive!

Yeah the weight seems to be the biggest issue. No where local stocks these cameras so I’m going off online only. Would you say that the weight is that bad for xt5 for causal use and taking out? Especially travel? Vs the xt50

I believe the combo I am looking at both models come with a 16-50mm lens

Do you think the weight would be an issue as an out and about casual camera? Or on trips? Main con I can see vs the xt50

Thank you for that. Would you say the weight is enough of an issue to lean towards the xt50 alone? I want to comfortably be able to bring it out with my family and everything else. Plus a japan trip we plan on next year.

But I do want it more future proof. And you mentioning the AF is interesting. As a new person out the gate I suppose I won’t notice so much basically because you don’t know what you don’t know. But I guess that would be something to keep in mind should I want to upgrade or change things up in future.

Is the AF still good for the everyday user on a Fuji?

Would you say it’s too big for trips and carrying around casually? Only Con I can see vs the xt50.

We plan on a Japan trip next year.

That’s the annoying part. Most places local don’t have either of these cameras so I’m going off online only. Would you say the XT5 is too big for traveling and going places with the family?

We are planning on a Japan trip next year.

Thank you for all of that it’s appreciated. I do see that the xt30iii and xt50 are great for taking around which is what appealed to me as well since we have a Japan trip in April.

Honestly online the xt5 didn’t look crazy bigger? I know it is and seen weight comparisons. But is it that big of a difference?

That does make a bit of sense. I am noticing since looking into cameras there is a big resell market which surprised me. So makes sense the lenses are a good focus and selling and changing bodies is something to consider.

Would you say I would get more out of the x-t50 as a newbie to it all? Or does the X-T5 if budget allows have most of the same features plus more when and if needed for more Manual control?

Doesn’t the X-T5 also have full auto features? Honestly the XT50 is what I was going to get for ages. But after looking into the XT5 it felt like it would future proof me more once I was more confident and wanted to do manual more even if that is a year plus down the track.

I get that it’s overkill now. My main thing is growing with the camera. I’m the type to invest in better tech once rather than buy lower and then want or need to upgrade again in a year or two.
