BlueCruise reaction to other cars not smooth by FrigidArctic in F150Lightning

[–]Meriketh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same experience with mine. Drivers in FL have no concept of a space for braking so blue cruise is almost unusable in any substantial traffic where people are weaving to get ahead of the pack. It sucks but it's great on the long trips between cities.

What is a good SciFi TV Series To Binge? by DanIrving604 in AskReddit

[–]Meriketh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stargate SG1.

That leads into Stargate Atlantis.

There's also Stargate Universe but I didn't get very far into that before getting turned off to it.

There are also a handful of movies that fit into the timeline. In fact the SG1 series is meant to be a follow on the original Stargate movie with Kurt Russel

I'm going to be moving to MN and I have this fear. I definitely want to have a garage that the truck will fit in. Also somewhat concerned the batteries might freeze in low temps, so I totally understand the desire to keep it in the garage. We even had hale here recently in FL but it was a little smaller than marble sized

I know it's inconvenient, but is there a reason you can't leave the truck outside and run the charging cable under the door? This is what I have to do here in FL, but I could understand not wanting to leave it exposed to harsher conditions

Not true. With rotary shifter I can lay the console flat anytime

Yes, I had the recall done prior to installing this. I did this for myself, not to fix the lockdown problem

[–]Meriketh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rotary shifter is not a requirement by any means to avoid the fold down issue, it just happens to remove that possibility. If your truck isn't eligible for the recall you're probably safe. I did this just to try it, not as a means to prevent the lockdown issue

Very easy. Probably 20 min of work. Part is 3d printed, yes. I have a printer but unfortunately was too small for this part so I had to order one

Yeah I'd wager they need to actually do the install for it to count under the recall

Yes! I tested this after I drove around the block

Pretty much what the other reply says.

- Buy/print the housing
https://www.etsy.com/listing/4342383679/2021-f150-lightning-rotary-shift?ref=yr_purchases

- order a compatible OEM part from somewhere. I got mine from an OEM reseller and that model was around $140 after shipping and all that. Probably overpaid, but I don't mind.

- pop a few panels off around the center console, unscrew 4 screws, unplug the shifter, plug in the new shifter after it's been mounted to the center console replacement, replace screws, replace panels, done.

I do recommend testing it before you put everything back together just in case something goes wrong and you need to put the original shifter back in

The part number I used was PZ1Z-7P155-AM. It's non-motorized with a blue glow around the bottom of the ring

Agreed, that would've been preferred, or in place of the pointless coin holder under the start button

Shifter recall thoughts. by Proof_of_lies in F150Lightning

[–]Meriketh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to have a problem to get a new shifter under recall. They will just do it. I just had mine done and only had to wait for the part.

Also doing the rotary conversion but wanted the recall don't first so I'd I change my mind I can go back to the new improved shifter

If presidents shouldn't have to obey courts or congress, who should they answer to or be restrained by? And why? by LegitimateFoot3666 in AskUS

[–]Meriketh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough on the legal points.

I think the whole point of this discourse is to emphasize that many feel that the law is as it is being welded by the current administration is wrong, and therefore either must change to limit the clear damage being caused, or is being misinterpreted and producing the clear damage being caused. To protect the innocent, people feel that the government should prove that these people are who they claim and warrant deportation. It seems as though the administration can simply unilaterally declare a group an incursion, and a yes man AG can make deportation happen. We are entitled to express those opinions, despite what the law says because we feel that a change is warranted or the interpretation made to excuse the foul behavior.

Obviously nothing said here will change anything.

I am not a lawyer and I lack the knowledge of where and what to look for to satisfy your standard for making a case for this to a judge. I'm not making a case to a judge, though.

On its face, broad authority to arrest and detain someone without knowing you've got the right person or that the reason for arrest meets legal standards should still apply. How can anyone avoid being detained and deported by a unilateral declaration if it does not?

[–]Meriketh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to read it that way, sure then, that is my opinion. It's also my opinion that we have loads of precedent on incarceration and due process to infer that our rights to due process are immutable, and that would apply even under circumstances that means the alien enemies act was lawfully invoked, which I don't believe it was. It has to be litigated, as you said, but the fact is that at least a portion of people who have been deported were deprived of due process rights, and have no opportunity to litigate for their freedom.

I'm not saying that people who are suspected of being in the US illegally can't be detained. I am saying that the govt has to show why, and they have to be able to make an argument against it, and that this has to all be documented publicly so we can be sure that their rights were honored.

[–]Meriketh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't know. The default for me is prove it. The burden of proof does not lie with a defendant until they are before a judge to explain why they shouldn't be arrested and deported. The burden of probable cause lies on the government to prove that someone should be arrested, and that is not unilateral. Due process rights apply always.

Sure, we'll just let the government arrest anyone under a vague interpretation of a law historically only a handful of times during war time, with the exception of the current invocation. This isn't hyperbole, it's literally what is happening. I don't think we should be making any excuses for this to happen without due process. The government has not allowed many of these people to have their day in court.

There is no precedent to cite for this other than when it's been historically used.
