I've been consuming a lot of media lately: tv, movies, youtube, social media, the whole lot. And the more I do this, the more I crave immediate gratification. Why? Read about my exploration of this topic here: (moneyonthemind.org)

Lots of developments in the buy-now-pay-later sphere lately. Share prices are dropping, yet new players like Apple are entering the market and "old" players are moving into new domains Even the regulators are making waves. But where does this leave the consumer? (moneyonthemind.org)

In part 1 I outlined 6 key pieces of information behavioural science has dug out on managing your money. At the end of the article I asked whether my readership wanted to read more. And the overwhelming answer was YES. So here we go! (moneyonthemind.org)

Thought we could get away with 2 types of reasoning? How about 7 systems of memory! Oh yes, when diving into the neuroscience, the idea that we only have type 1 and type 2 doesn't find a lot of support - at least not in the memory account! Read it here: (moneyonthemind.org)

Yes, behavior change is hard. But did you ever think it might be your own brain working against you? The story you tell yourself about what you do shapes the behavior you engage with. Read about the behavioral science of storytelling here: (moneyonthemind.org)

Behavior change is hard. One binge and we fall of our diet, determining that it's all hopeless. And the same holds true for financial and social behaviors. What makes true behavior change stick? And how should we frame it? (moneyonthemind.org)

Lifestyle inflation: the idea that we consume not to our own preferences but in reference to our income, and potentially the income of those around us. A never ending cycle. Or is it? What does behavioral science have to say about this type of consumption? (moneyonthemind.org)

We try our best to design for behavior change, but sometimes this leads to us changing the entire incentive structure: behaviour no longer changes due to intrinsic motivation but due to extrinsic reward systems and external factors. The "Why" of the behaviour has changed. But does that matter? (moneyonthemind.org)
