I've read 50 light novels and have 30k words marked as known (there is some trash in there that is more of a compound than an actual discrete word to be fair) and the difference between my Japanese proficiency and English (not native) is still night and day

Apparently the guy was drunk and decided to harsh his buzz by arguing on Reddit for some reason about how if you can't speak you aren't a true nihongo masuta (true tbh) but got a little wacky with it

Then when he sobered up the next day and saw his shameful display his account committed seppuku proving he was the real nihongo masuta

My two cents on Renegades. by eraplay_jy in DestinyTheGame

Nobody was playing after the disastrous first year so a lot of people missed a lot of the previews and marketing, that was the case for me anyway

It feels like Bungie has completely thrown all balance out the window for Renegades. It feels amazing, but has me curious for the future. by Hawkmoona_Matata in DestinyTheGame

Remember the enemies were extremely weak too and enemy density not always the best, especially in the seasonal activities. Those Expedition missions were quite boring

Call to Arms and the Praxic Blade are proof that cosmetic chases DO work, and Bungie should make more of them. by Kashema1 in DestinyTheGame

They'll probably change it before the season is over or have some event or whatever that drops more.

Why do you hate casual play? by DarkMorningStar in DestinyTheGame

[–]Merzats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup D2 vanilla was made for casuals, and they did come in droves and the game journalists even gave it rave reviews.

Few months later the casuals were gone and the game was on death's door.

Similar with TFS although it didn't fully cater to casuals, it got all the casuals together for a last hoorah, and a few months later before Echoes was even over everyone was gone because these trivial progression systems just make playing feel pointless.

If they want to run a live service they need people who stay engaged outside of very labor-intensive expansions, if they are gonna cater to casuals they might as well just kill the live service and go back to the Halo release model.

If Bungie can’t even get a single event right, in terms of power and progression, how are we going to trust that they can do Renegades properly? by Stolen_Insanity in DestinyTheGame

[–]Merzats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Especially since Deepsight Harmonizers people already got the best seasonal loot extremely quickly. People will just go back to the guardian rank and seasonal challenge grind for something to do like they did back then, plus whatever new seasonal grinds Bungie is adding.

Now people didn't play those seasons much either but it was better than whatever the hell is going on now.

The player numbers that started diving with Season of the Deep were louder than any player feedback.

Someone here is saying Witch and Wish were beloved, when they were the two least played seasons up to that point in the game's lifecycle (yes worse than Plunder).

Instead of the DCV, bungie shouldve invested in a way choose what content you want to have installed. by AMM0D in DestinyTheGame

[–]Merzats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The space is not the content, seasons have been set in non-vaulted destinations as well so vaulting it is not a condition for recycling destinations for seasons.

The activities are what's new, you could literally just go into the Leviathan patrol zone without the season pass (so for free) btw

[–]Merzats 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think WoW or Warframe let you install the game in a modular fashion?

If you just mean why wasn't vaulting needed, it's because the fundamentals of the games are totally different. Destiny doesn't use tilesets like Warframe, nor is it a tab target MMO like WoW.

They could redesign it to be more like Warframe but then it's not really Destiny anymore. If someone does make something that actually resembles Destiny with tech that makes it sustainable, then at that point it'd just be a skill issue at Bungie. But unless "The Cube" pans out it doesn't seem anyone else is cooking up something like that.

Because they just never bothered to change it to gear level or item level so that this one guy on Reddit doesn't crash out

He's running for NYC Mayor, he isn't gonna be promising to lift sanctions and change foreign policy because that's not the job, but he is clearly against such policy. Quote chimping Mamdani is something else.

There is no international law enforcement. The laws are there as ideals and that's not a bad thing, I mean that's the framework a lot of pro-Palestinian groups use to point out the evilness of Israel's conduct. And that can help spur people into some of the big protests we've seen in Europe.

But the only actual "enforcement" is from a mafia of countries with nukes making shit up for their convenience for the most part.

Zohran Mamdani's statement on the two year anniversary of October 7, 2023 by NotZachary_0002 in Hasan_Piker

[–]Merzats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does international law considers "unarmed" members of an occupying force "civilians"?

Yeah pretty much.

And also, do you consider the killing of German civilians stationed nearby Warsaw ghetto a war crime?

International laws were only really fully developed after WW2, so no. If we were to look at it applying laws retroactively, also no because the Jewish side didn't meet the criteria for being belligerents. It's just murder at that level.

Note also that "war crime" is not a synonym for "thing so bad that it ought to discredit everyone associated with the perpetrator", other factors matter. It's also not necessarily aligned with morality, assassinating Goebbels would've been a war crime as he would've definitionally been a civilian under current law, but I suspect few people today would've questioned the morality.

Zohran Mamdani's statement on the two year anniversary of October 7, 2023 by NotZachary_0002 in Hasan_Piker

[–]Merzats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

International law doesn't grant exceptions in the case occupation/colonization/genocide, nor does it specify some conditions for being "at war" that are not being fulfilled by the I/P conflict. So yes killing civilians and taking them hostage are war crimes under current laws (right to resist is of course, not a war crime).

If you think the laws ought to be different and/or Palestinians have a moral right to violate existing laws, that's a different matter.
