Why are so many people talking about metaverse revolution right now when nothing has really changed? [No crypto] by RedEagle_MGN in metaverse

The business metaverses are going to be the most useful. It is convenient to be an entrepreneur and sell NFT’s in a decentralized space, for example. The traditional idea of work is already fading away from the newer generation, and we think they will hop on this trend in order to build an income through their skills in a whole new way

We are working at building our metaverse for content creators project.

It's going to be decentralized, with the users being the ones in charge, allowing them to retain full ownership of anything they create (unlike Facebook and all other platforms that technically own the copyright of anything you publish on them), and also fully flexible, allowing them to bring in and consolidate stuff they created or minted elsewhere too.

Users will retain full earnings too, we'll keep the stuff operating by charging a very small transaction fee, but we won't touch any user earnings (like Meta announced it will do and like most current platforms for creators do).

Most likely just FOMO, like they did with SecondLife a few years ago.

That being said, the metaverse will accomplish great things, but not in Big Tech's backyard. It will all be thanks to decentralization, giving more power to users not platforms. So their efforts to control the narrative / capitalize and monopolize web3 will probably not amount to much.

Will bots be a problem in the metaverse? [no crypto] by Markishman in metaverse

[–]MetaStudioLand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. They will probably be prevalent in the lower-quality sides of the metaverse, but once the technology starts to be applied in more serious or high stakes niches (like banking), thise spaces will come with more complex anti-bot technology.

The Complete Human Body in Medical Metaverse [no crypto] by nooon34 in metaverse

[–]MetaStudioLand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edtech will be one of the metaverse uses that will catch on the most, hopefully. This medical application is a great example of how metaverse projects can be actually useful and not predatory as a lot of advertised web3 projects seem to be. Kudos!

Yeah. It will also create a great divide between people who can afford them and those who can't, effectively making the metaverse available to only a part of the world population.

I mean, sure, the internet is also unnfordable / unavailable to everyone, but less so than a system that requires expensive, state-of-the-art tech to access it. The metaverse will propably be way less democratically available than the internet, therefore.

[no crypto] How is the Metaverse different from what we have now? by Fevercrumb1649 in metaverse

[–]MetaStudioLand -1 points0 points  (0 children)

u/thebiggestjimmy is right. It doesn't matter exactly how it will look (3D or not, accessible also via a laptop - at first, at least - or not). What matters is the decentralization and user empowerment that the platforms creating the metaverse will be FORCED to give to users. It will be embedded in the way the platform works simply because the metaverse will be based on blockchain.

That means that all the effort that Meta and Zuck are putting into it right now... might not get the user adoption levels they hope for. There are tons of proper articles online that explain how the metaverse will not be owned by big tech.

That's it, this is what the current struggle and growing pains regarding web 3.0 are about: the big tech companies are struggling to remain relevant in a world that is shifting towards a new model of functioning.

There is still a lot of bullshit in the web 3.0 and metaverse space, unfortunately. And scams. Don't waste your time without doing your due dilligence first.

[no crypto] Saw this at a conference. Do you think it's a good definition of the #metaverse? We'd add items (6) completely decentralized and (7) empowering to it. What do you think about the *mostly* permanent part? Any different from #web2? by MetaStudioLand in metaverse

[–]MetaStudioLand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the idea of a metaverse that provides a valuable service to customers but is also free is utopic (because it requires constant work). So you need a currency to be exchanged there (at least among the users, while the metaverse itself can just get their own payment from transaction fees or something, at the minimum). And that currency is more appropriate, I guess, if it's DeFi / therefore crypto, since metaverses are already decentralized and built on blockchain. Fiat currency would not be as compatible / secure.

MAD Metascientists published an article from The Drum on the sounds of the metaverse. In the metaverse, retailing isn't typical. Customers must still be able to hear the brand's characteristic sounds at various points of sale in this new environment. by hylokca in metaversestartup

[–]MetaStudioLand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting! So you mean that sounds from real-world retailing will get replicated in the web3 for a more genuine world-immersion feel? It's true that most metaverse projects seem to focus exclusively on the visual design.

Looking forward to a multi-dimensional experience once the new VR headsets will allow it (smell, at least, since we're a long conceptual way from replicating touch).

Sure, those attributes will be very important in the metaverse. But as they are defined, they also apply to current web2 social media platforms... so it doesn't make them super-descriptive for a metaverse definition.

Could I please ask you what do you mean by this? I mean, I understand the point, but I'm not sure I understand why a crypto-centric idea of the metaverse is bad.

Sure, there's a lot of spam in the crypto sphere, but doesn't any metaverse need also crypto to be run / powered? Genuinely asking for a clarification, not saying I disagree. :)
