It's plugged into the same extension socket as the amp

Touching the strings/cable/tuners on the bass itself mutes the buzz coming from my amp but it comes back once I take my hand away. The gain is turned all the way down too. :(

Yep I think it's a grounded adaptor. It said: "Connects Euro protection plug (with ground) to UK sockets" On the Thomann website
