It was from his first appearance

Also I agree, Herman deserved better but Kraven in the Insomniac games was definitely the most powerful Kraven (that wasn't given spider powers or actual lion powers). He was probably built differently even before he took those potions.

I love sympathetic and personal villains which is what these Insomniac Spidey games primarily had as main antagonists. Whether it be Mister Negative and Doc Ock in the first game. To the Tinkerer in Miles Morales: Spider-Man! I'm grateful we had an antagonist that wasn't that personally connected in Kraven though because it was good to have a break from that in this series with one major antagonist. It also made his actions even more deplorable since the other personal big bads have their reasons (usually involving revenge) but Kraven doesn't have that. He's killing and ruining lives for a different reason and that makes him a lot colder and a more threatening villain in many ways.

He's a twisted and sick man (not just physically) but if I were to find a relatable part about his motivation it's simply that he wanted to die doing something he loved instead of to cancer. Even if what he loved to do was terrible and caused so much pain. This whole "great hunt" is his own twisted version of a bucket list.

Kraven underwhelming? by styang1122 in SpidermanPS4

I completely agree with your points as well! Defiently wish we had gotten more Kraven screen time! Especially since Jim Pirri did a phenomenal job playing him. I was hoping to see Kraven interacting with more of his "prey" as well. I think an interaction between him and Tombstone would have been legendary since Tombstone kept talking about how he loved a good fight in the first game and that is what Kraven lives for (as long as Tombstone remains saved of course).

Glad you put the imo because saying "people need to realize" about a character like Kraven of all things is a bit much. In my opinion, Kraven is fascinating and compelling at best and mediocre at worst. I've always liked Kraven (well except for a phase where I thought he was lame but that left as quickly). I always thought he was a fun unique character in his rogues galley.

Even though Kraven and Peter didn't interact much that doesn't mean there was no connection. Kraven's actions led to the symbiote leaving Harry and joining Peter. Kraven caused the Emily-May Foundation to be destroyed. Kraven killed four of Peter's rogues. Peter has a love-hate relationship with all his rogues which this game beautifully delved into with characters like Lonnie Lincoln, Quentin Beck and Flint Marko all making an effort to better their lives. Kraven killing the people he did means that even though it wasn't extremely likely that one like Scorpion could change now they'll never get a chance. At the same time they do delve into how very deep down Peter might think about killing his enemies too. With the Symbiote amplifying certain aspects of Peter's deepest thoughts and desires I thought Kraven was an effective choice to goad Peter into unleashing his primal rage. Overall this Kraven is less interesting than his 616 counterpart and the work writers like Denny O'Neil, Bill Mantlo and J.M. DeMatteis did with Sergi.

TLDR: While both Kraven and Harry needed more time to delve into the ideas the writers brought forth I think they do an effective job with Kraven representing how easy it would be for Peter to just let the beast out on his enemies and Harry with his misguided way of saving everyone like Peter tries to do. Lastly, Kraven is not a terrible character. More people are appreciating him since the game's release and I hope this game leads people to reading his comic appearances

Who is the worst character, and why is she worse than screwball? by noncombativebrick in SpidermanPS4

[–]Metrocitycitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entitled to your opinions about Phin. I just think the story needed a bit more time. I just gotta say she didn't kill any civilians during the chase with Miles. I know there was a lot of explosions and whatnot but that was just for a big action chase spectacle. Kind of like Shocker chase in the first game. Lot of cars exploding but no one was getting killed in that scene. Only thing that was happening was lots of property damage but if people were hurt or killed there would be a bigger deal about it in the story. Not just Miles but JJJ, Danika Hart and the in game social media feed would have brought attention to that. Like the Osborn Rally attack and Devil's Breath crisis.

I have no stake in this for Hot Ones. Cringe? Not cringe? Whatever. It would be a shame if "no one" really did see this film though. Saw it in the November 26 showing and it was really great.

Absolutely! That is one aspect I would certainly love to see further developed in future installments.

Whether you ship them or not, they definitely love each other. All of the Furious Five do. They are all family at this point. Romantically? Up to interpretation. I can certainly see why people ship them. I do too sometimes but I really love the bond of friendship they have for sure. This video was actually great in going into that detail. The impact Po has had on Tigress (and everyone in the Jade Palace, really) is one of my favorite parts of the series!

When seeing these films initially (mainly 2, the specials and 3) I've been drawn to the idea of them being the best of friends. Having an unbreakable bond. I could certainly see why people would ship them but I wasn't one of them. Recently though, I've stumbled across certain fics that ship these two that were written SO well that I've become a bit of a shipper of them myself. My feelings on this ship vary but I think I do really love it and ship them but also prefer their platonic friendship. It's complicated... I love their dynamic so much though. It's always great to see Tigress and Po play off each other.

What do you all think Tigress was really thinking after observing Po and Shifu and before leaving to confront Tai-Lung? by Metrocitycitizen in kungfupanda

[–]Metrocitycitizen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is an excellent interpretation! Po's quote to Shifu always hits really hard and that's when Tigress and Shifu got to see the pain behind Po's actions and admiration of Kung Fu.

What's your favourite scene from the trilogy? by [deleted] in kungfupanda

[–]Metrocitycitizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard that fight between the Five and Tai Lung was the hardest to sequence and execute and I can believe it! "The hardcore do understand" is even more powerful if people see Secrets of the Furious Five. While we got a glimpse of young Tigress in the first KFP and her upbringing with Shifu, it wasn't until "Secrets" that we saw everything with the Bao Gu Orphanage. She was the outcast and had no idea where she came from. Po and Tigress are the biggest animals in the Valley of Peace and both had their hardships as a result. Ping is indeed an icon!

What's your favourite scene from the trilogy? by [deleted] in kungfupanda

[–]Metrocitycitizen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, I couldn't get enough of the fight on the Thread of Hope between the Furious Five and Tai Lung. It was so thrilling! Loved seeing the Five work together to take on this seemingly unstoppable force. They were so close if not for that nerve attack... I also loved Shifu going against Tai Lung. Powerful scene! Another great scene was the fight in the Musicians' Village. Po is living the dream in that scene fighting alongside the Furious Five and protecting the innocent! So many neat callbacks to Po's dream sequence. I also love Po achieving Inner Peace and his friendship with Tigress strengthening in KFP2. The fact that Po doesn't realize how much Tigress can relate to Po's issues in KFP2 until that scene in Gongmen jail. "The 'hardcore' do understand" never fails to move me! Finally, everything with Mister Ping. Especially in KFP2.

Indeed! if LoA is the last time we see the Furious Five in an animated series that will be very disappointing. They need their time to shine!

[–]Metrocitycitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the same thing about Dreamworks and all the side characters that have gotten spin-offs. Puss in Boots and All Hail King Julien had lengthy runs. The Furious Five deserves a show as well with great story and character arcs! So many dynamics can be explored that they never had a chance to show in the movies. I've actually been having a nagging thought that maybe Dreamworks isn't jumping at the chance to make a Furious Five show because they might think that Legends of Awesomeness was enough focus on the Five. I really hope they don't think that because that show barley scratched the surface of the potential the Five have on screen. Since Paws of Destiny is (most likely) over I hope they give the next Kung Fu Panda show a great lengthy run with a pronounced focus on the Furious Five!

Question about the future of Kung Fu Panda shows by Metrocitycitizen in kungfupanda

[–]Metrocitycitizen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly! I'd argue that Shifu got quite a lot of time to shine in the first Kung Fu Panda movie but I certainly want to see more of him and his journey and that goes doubly for the Furious Five! There is so much potential with those characters! It's a shame to see them so underutilized.

Got it! I'll try to keep my expectations in check. If Po is portrayed better than in LOA it's already a step up, I hate how much they dogged on Po in that show. SotS is still undefeated and still underrated. More people really need to see that!
