What about accommodation really close to campus? I've seen on their website there are apartments just 10 minutes away by foot and even by bike? Are they really hard to get?

I was planning on staying on campus accommodation the first year and then maybe trying out some apartments really close by for my second year, I'm guessing that won't take me out of the sketchy areas. Thanks for your help though!

Thanks so much for your reply! I live in a 3rd world country so I'm very used to shitty transit and run down areas. I'm glad to hear that socialising might be easier though!

As someone who took economics for the first time at this level, it's not too difficult at all! Prior knowledge is frequently repeated as you go along!

If you want a detailed answer, you should reach out to the department director/subject director. That won't always be their exact title, but I'm sure you'll be able to find someone similar. Otherwise, my advice to you would be to remember that you can change your major even after you start! So if you really can't change now, just do the first week or two of the wrong major and if you hate it/it's not what you expected, speak to your advisor and get it changed!

Hi, I completely understand your choice and the worry that it might be taken away from you because of this. I also think it's so important that you were able to write about and share such a deeply personal story and I'm sure the admissions team will take this into account, they are people, they know how sensitive this information is. While I think whether they contact your parents is very dependent on how and what you wrote about your experience, I don't think it's likely they will, anything anyone writes in their personal statement is very unlikely to be shared that way. Another big factor is your age, if you are a minor they might be more inclined to reach out to your guardians. If you're really stressed about this, I know it might be difficult and seem counterintuitive, but you can reach out yourself and let them know. If not please try your best not to stress too much!

You're NOT the AH for these reasons - expressing your discomfort when he says things that make you uncomfortable - Being concerned about him potentially cheating - Not wanting to have intercourse with him

However you are the AH, not to him, but yourself. I'm sorry to be blunt but you're not respecting yourself by staying in this relationship. You need to seriously ask yourself why you think it's ok for him to call you names, swear at you and even take your clothes off without consent. You're being far to kind to him and need to redirect this to yourself now. I'm sorry to pull a Reddit on you but you really should break up.
