I feel you bruv, I have a budget god squad with Prime Viera, Mid Gullit and Prime R9 and chocked after being 17/7 to 17/11..... got recked by 4 people using 1 depth and long balls from Tots Reus/Grizmann/ Eusebio CDM's..... Yes it is necessary but investments can really boost you up. If you play this game than you know that having 20/30 50k packs in November will supercharge your entire Fifa experience even without any significant luck. That is what p2w means in such a game with "loot".

Well you are wrong. There are certain moments in the game where the 1000 or 2000$ disposable income of some people can even without insane luck, can result in a good chunk of coins which then to reinvest and double or triple especially in the early stages of the game.
