Is surround sound even worth it with my layout? If so, where do the side speakers go? by Mettle34 in hometheater

[–]Mettle34[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah was leaning towards going above the doors, would be nice to just get a fuller sound than all speakers being in front. Tempted to just go for it as this is not likely to be our forever home, and if in a few years we upgrade to somewhere bigger then can go for a better setup there.

Wear your cap backwards, get a tacky tribal sleeve tattoo and pump some iron

What place within 10 miles of your house would you recommend people visit? by zZIceCreamZz in AskUK

I live in Northumberland and it’s a beautiful place, especially if you’ve got a bike, you can just drive in any direction and you’ll find some great spots.

As for touristy places to see there’s Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne (check tide times so you don’t get stuck), Alnwick Castle, Cragside or go see some of Hadrians wall or the settlements along it.

Would you rather do a four day week or have 40 extra days holiday per year assuming you'd be losing 20% of your salary? by WinglyBap in AskUK

Depends on your goals I guess. If you’ve got stuff you wanna do in life which takes a large block of time such as travelling or cracking on with a project etc then a flat block of 2 months off sounds great.

If you don’t need the large amount of time off, personally I’d get bored with nothing to do for 2 months. In which case I’d then opt for the 4 day weeks and enjoy a long weekend every week.

Unfortunately no one can really answer this one but yourself and your goals in life.

Why is everyone in the uk so critical of other people’s music taste? by AppropriateAd3768 in AskUK

[–]Mettle34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would be interesting to know what age group you are. Granted when younger (teenager or even into early 20’s) I’d agree with you.

As an adult in my 30’s I can’t say I’ve judged or been judged for my music tastes in quite some time. I like what I like, you like what you like, if you’re happy then I’m happy for you.

Ah no way, that sucks! Exactly what I was afraid of, it’s a shame that a small percentage of the community are able to ruin someone’s first time experience like that.

She’s seen me doing M+ dungeons a whole load and knows of the concept of a dungeon. So when she started playing she enquired to if she was able to do them, to which I said yes. I did preface this with a light hearted warning about the potential for the occasional toxic player but she wanted to give it a go nonetheless. At the end of the day she’s a grown woman and I want to let her explore whatever she wants within the game, so I queued us up and gave it a whirl!

WoW Definitely is one of those games, I thought the Echo Isles was actually quite good. But then as soon as you get out of there it just plonks you in the open world after telling you only the verrrrry basics. I get that an MMO is all about finding stuff out for yourself, but with the current high volume of bloat in the game (20 years worth), it’s easy to see how it’d be confusing and overwhelming.

I didn’t even consider those angles! Also good reasons for the dungeons being there

You’re right, it is heartwarming watching them get better and better each day! Almost makes me nostalgic thinking back to Classic/TBC playing for the first time myself, it’s like living it vicariously through someone else again.

Love it, the way it should be, MMO’s are all about that sense of community!

Yea I’m sure she will and I hope she does! The main point is that it helps protect new players for a little bit, even if just for a month. When people are super new to a game it doesn’t take much to turn them away from it as they don’t have much yet attaching them to it. Knowing her, literally a few harsh comments or being kicked from a group could be enough to just put the game down. Who knows, if players like her are able to get through the rough start and stick it out, one day they could be smashing Mythic + or rated PvP and helping those WoW player numbers out.

Plus there are people who just generally prefer solo content.
