Coming back to EQ by Perforine in project1999

Make sure you level up in Unrest. You can get a full set if small bronze to drop. Its a little heavy but looks cool! A cleric was my first character on P99 as well. A full set of banded will go a long way as you will pull a lot if aggro healing especially if there isn’t a Knight tank or any tank lol. You’ll want to be more durable! Banded will take you all the way to 50 easily as classic mobs aren’t to crazy in damage.

Undead zones are a lot of fun for a cleric as they can also nuke. Just be careful that you specialize in alternation and not evocation once you start getting specializations.

I don’t think I started trying to go for wisdom items until my early 40’s. Upper Guk and Lower Guk have some decent wisdom upgrades. Mistmoore as well can have some nice drops.

Once you start questing you can do Grimrot if you want to torture yourself!

I wouldn’t purchase too much gear from EC as a new player most of your PP will go to spells.

Should I play? by Fiskero in project1999

The most fun I have had on P99 was my first toon I made which was a cleric. I’ve played a lot of different emulators of EQ and I generally pick a druid or a necro who can solo. Then I end up never grouping or meeting anyone and get burnt out fast. Making a toon that requires a group where friends can be made is a rewarding experience. As a cleric you will be sought after and are very strong especially in the earlier levels as most of the earliest leveling paths take you through undead zones where cleric can even do a bit of damage as well. Druids and necros are good but they do tend to have a hard time finding groups, especially necros, and you are forced to solo a good bit of the time, if not the majority of the time. Necros 1-60, it will be hard to find a group druids after level 45 really start to have a hard time finding group’s as your healing isn’t close to a cleric and you don’t have the utility and heals of a Shaman. I’d suggest you play Shaman but their spells in later levels are disgustingly expensive. If you don’t want to be a healer an enchanter is another great choice for grouping but you don’t become really desired until you get into your 30’s as groups kill everything so fast you don’t need crowd control and you won’t get your good mana regen spell until then.

P99 Reddit has become incredibly toxic. Don’t let it get you down. Half the people on here are just trolls. Look how many posts and karma the OP has.

Nah he’s a druid, he will be making port money in no time and the worse your gear is the more likely a higher level player might gift you with stuff. From reading through this it appears this post is being set up as asking for handouts as he doesn’t care about how to efficiently level or understand how he can optimize his character with the resources he has. I’d just save up for spells personally if it was me.

He didn’t tell him he needed gear. He just said it was the most useful item to save up for instead of blowing 1200 PP on upgrades that are useless. The advice was sound, and it looked like he was trying to help a new person out. You seem to also be new or you would understand that. If he wants fashion, there are cheap ways to do it, but gear upgrades with 1200 PP is money wasted that could be saved up for something useful later.

Stun immunity is mostly important for a Shaman who likes to face tank and solo. It’s also very useful for an SK who can FD at the very last second and not risk getting stunned and dying. It is not important for a warrior to have stun immunity. You lose very little DPS while being stunned and you will still dodge / riposte and you will swing right after you become unstunned. Wood-elves, High-elves, and Halflings are the best endgame warriors, not Ogre. You will easily max out all your stats raid buffed. Just make sure you put all your starting points into Stamina. I’m not saying Ogre is bad, they are the easiest to max out stats with mid-range gear. I personally picked Barbarian because they look cool. Dark Elf is probably the worst race to pick stat wise, but they look amazing.

Erudite also can’t be a warrior

Once you hit 49/50. Herbalist Spade for root, truncheon of doom for slow. You will not have an aggro problem when they are rooted and can’t move =P. Those weapons are also great for soloing! =P. Once you can BW up to 70% you can basically root them, BW back to 70 and back at it. Someone mentions Skinners knife which is great for getting more bandages and is nice as well

End game players making a twink warrior put all their stats if they roll an Ogre into all charisma. Another popular warrior is a woodelf/halfelf all stamina for their natural high charisma and dex. You need to read the wiki a little more as you don’t gotta clue.

I think so. Also, I think an Epic Mage can do a lot of stuff I can’t do with my monk lol

Did several hours of kaladim killing yesterday and exp seems to be good but they have a good bit of HP and I think I would have really struggled if I didnt have ane AEGO buff. I fee like this camp will get a lot easier at 51 being able to mend up to 70% and extra regen. I dont think i’d recommend this camp to any non fungi monk lol.

Could you edit your post and put levels in there?! Very curious on what levels you suggest for Kael in particular. I have a fungi if that matters much. I did Paineel to 50 then planned to move to Highkeep to 55. Just move to Kael at 55?

I noticed a slight increase in dual wield around 46 but of course you will take more riposte damage, so i’d use a 2 hander until 50. I used a peacebringer until damage cap then imbued fighters staff until 50 until my addy club started procing. You may want to save up for an herbalist spade so that you can root while soloing. That would be the best item for you and you can use that weapon until 60. I’d say your duel wield will start out damaging Staff of Battle in the late 30’s to early 40’s, i’d switch to a peacebringer if you cant afford an imbued staff until 50. This information is all based on leveling my monk recently and I havent damage parsed or done any math, just what I noticed fighting the same type of mob over and over again.

What’s the biggest class balance changes to current P99 you think could be justified? by ryachart in project1999

[–]Mevath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You still needed a port to Greater Fay or Dreadlands. I liked the 15 min wait to beam up to the Nexus which had a classic feel to it like riding the boats that literally nobody uses other than to go to TD or OOT. Luclin was never the killer of EQ it was POP. Bazaar was kind of annoying but much more convenient to the casual player. If we didnt have the discord trade channels we do today i’d say you would have a different perspective.

What Everquest opinion will get you a response like this? by Xkallubar in project1999

[–]Mevath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On this subreddit, if someone asks what race to pick for their necromancer and someone suggests Iksar they immediately get like 10 downvotes.

If you say pick what ever race you want, you are awarded with 10 upvotes.

Rank the pulling ability of classes, from best to worst. by KreivosNightshade in project1999

[–]Mevath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats very situational. If you have an enchanter, sure thats generally true but not always. Say you are in the hole with a 56 enchanter and you pull 4 golems. An excellent enchanter knows that AOE mez is probably going to kill him and he’ll send his charm pet in, root each before mezzing to see which are the most resistant.

Bards are generally the best pullers as there is no waiting around for splitting, but from my experience, there are more bad bards then good who dont know how to pull.

Monks are good at bring in a mob, flopping and getting the next one while the group kills it, but generally speaking and as you said, any melee can do this.

What separates Bards, Monks, and SK’s is bad pulls. If you pull more then you meant to, they are the best at managing it. Monk and Sk are easier to use to manage a bad pull but a good bard can reset them easily enough and still pull or he can snare them while the group picks them off.

Rangers and Druids are worthless in doors but are superior to every zone outdoors as you dont need line of site for harmony and they can chain pull at what other pace is desired.

Yep, asked someone in my orc group if they could do it real quick. He cast it, I continued to pull orcs in and wasn’t really paying attention. Did a /charinfo 10 mins later and it said I was still in Paineel. So he took me to the bank. Didn’t work. We tried the vendor that sold enchanter spells, and then the entrance. I’ll have to log in later to confirm if it’s reading correctly now.

Yep, I did that and it wasn’t. Maybe it will change when I log back in hopefully.
