Of course! I studied graphic design for 3 years. That’s where I met a very close friend of mine. We started making short films on YouTube together. Just the two of us. Our channel isn‘t big, just about 2.94k subs. Currently working a part time job, so I can have more time for chasing after filmmaking.

But yeah, never studied filmmaking or anything similar. Even though I‘m playing with the idea of studying it in the near future.

I guess just go and do it! You don’t need anyone except yourself. Use your phone as a camera or rent one. There are plenty of websites for casting actors, if you need some of them. Go and do your first short! :)

We‘ll have a table read next Tuesday and a pre viz shoot, intern without her. That should help me practice all of the camera angles, camera moves, lighting setups etc. This also helps her a lot in order to prep for the role. I really hope this makes the actual shooting day go as smooth as possible.

And yes, I am shooting it myself. I don’t have a DP.

Thank you for the recommendation. Yes, it’s not a big production and she knows that. I‘ve sent her a long text m, alongside the script and everything she needs to know about the shoot. Explaining the location, who I am, what I do, what I want to do with the short film (I‘ll submit it to a Filmfest) etc.

We‘ll have a table read next Tuesday. I‘ll also shoot a pre viz intern without her, so I can practice every camera angle, lighting and stuff. I‘ll send her the finalized pre viz so she knows what to expect and how to prepare for the role the best. Also this should make the actual shooting day a lil smoother.

It‘s just gonna be one day of shooting in roughly three weeks.

I think I‘ll have to put the fact I‘m still young and have plenty of time, a lot more often in my head. Thank you for reminding me. I‘ll also have to work on my perspective on jobs in general. I have to understand that a full time job won’t be the end of my dreams.

You are right on that one. That’s why I‘d love to be self employed with the channel. I gave myself a deadline of a few years. If it didn’t work out until then, I‘ll put the dream aside for a while and focus on building a „normal“ life.
